Just to give some background on my iron set progression, I only change them every 5-6 years - went from some 2008 Taylor Made Tour Preferred to Callaway CB16 and moved into the Mizuno JPX 921 Forged in 2021 (KBS Tour 110 R shaft).
Had recently considered building a set as just a project and had looked at various DTC irons, usually with the skeptical eye that most have around not having a "name" in the bag - what's the quality like, etc. Started looking at the Maltby's with an eye on the TS1s, since they basically seemed like a version of the Taylor Made P790s, but the TS4s were too good looking to pass up and Maltby even markets them as "Super Game Improvement (PF701+) design" and the YouTube reviews were all very positive, even confirming that off-center hits seem to lose little, if any distance.
Figured I'd take a flyer on a set and finally gamed them yesterday and was blown away. They feel better than any iron I've gamed, look outstanding, and even though I'm not cost conscious, the idea of ever dropping $1,300+ on a set of stock irons ever again is ludicrous.
I kept costs minimal (<$600) for 5-GW just throwing in the stock True Temper Score LT shaft in stiff and honestly see no reason (for me) to look for a different shaft at this point. If you're in the market for new irons, do yourself a favor and order 1 club to try - they really are phenomenal.
