  1. Hyundai Santa Fe. Easily fits 2-4 sets of clubs, shoes, hats, and more.
  2. I'm pretty sure that after the opening dinner, he's going to get everyone in the team room, toss a handful of tees in the air, and the pairings are "which way the tees point". 😁🤣
  3. That's definitely the short list of "affordable" public golf near San Jose. I haven't played the redesigned San Juan Oaks, so can't comment on it. Coyote Creek and Cinnabar are literally 10 minutes from the location where the MidAm qualifier is being held ... we actually bicycle past Coyote on the nearby bike trail. Coyote has the benefit of having two courses, so with mid-summer daylight, it's easy to get 36 in. Affordability-wise, Harding is getting up near Pasatiempo for non-residents, and the Ocean Course at HMB is relatively pricey as well. Not sure the Old Course at HMB is worth the drive ... a lovely Palmer design that winds through a housing development, but except for the 18th (which is magnificent), there's nothing really special or memorable.
  4. As noted above, "semi-private" is "public course, with access to practice facilities and tee times. You'll play at public course pace, and randomly be paired with everyone from great people to yahoos ... Private clubs you will have regular games, easy access (including 9 holes after work, or even just practice then play 3 holes, plus whatever other amenities they offer. It's a community. Having been a private club member for 50+ years (thanks Dad for the early years!), I wouldn't trade it for the other experience. YMMV ...
  5. Can't go wrong with that one! Definitely the best public golf course within an easy drive of San Jose (Pebble Beach notwithstanding, given tee time availability)
  6. SCVCC Member here ... send me a PM and we can go into far more detail without cluttering up the overall board!
  7. If I've hit it somewhere not good, but where I should be able to find and play it: EVERYONE ELSE'S BUT MINE. 😁
  8. And the average Tour player, if they carried a handicap, would probably be +6. So they're giving a 6 handicapper 12 shots! Overall, people seem to think a 5-6 handicapper is way better than they really are ...
