  1. I have been having major lag putting issues as well. I have been working on contact using a whygolf putting thing and going to the course 2-3 times a week to work on 30-50' putts. Its funny how much impact actually practicing has had for me.
  2. My home course doesn't have a driving range. They have a spot I can shag my own balls and hit about 100y. There is an indoor Trackman 4 simulator closer to my home/work than any outdoor driving range so I signed up for a month. I got new irons earlier this summer so if nothing else I can dial in my distances with them. I am also hoping to work on my driver, it is typically a push fade. I went today and just played around with it trying different modes and things like that. Ball flight and distances were pretty close to what I was expecting for my irons but when I tried to hit driver it was a wild experience. I hit exactly zero fades on Trackman. Every single shot (20-25) was some form of a hook, to the point I started to wonder if I was incorrectly using it. The downside to this facility is I sign up for access online and am kind of thrown to the wolves to figure it out myself. Does Trackman recognize that I am a lefty or will things like swingpath be reversed? For example if I am swinging inside out my path would be negative instead of + for a right handed golfer.
  3. I do a 3 on 1 off depending on how I am feeling and the schedule with a toddler, I may lift 6 days in a row then take one off. I'm less than a month out from 40 so my goals have changed, I'm no longer chasing 1RMs and probably haven't tried for one in at least two years. At this point I strive for consistency. I usually stay at a top weight for 2-3 weeks, and still much lower than my all time highs, before I increase 5-10lb. The only thing I try to avoid is deadlifts after golf. My split looks like: Squat, RDL, Walking Dumbbell Lunge, Dumbbell Glute Bridge, Leg Extensions Bench, Incline Dumbbell Bench, OHP, Side Raises, Front Raises, Incline Dumbbell Curl Deadlift, Pull up, Ring Row, Tricep Pushdown, EZ Bar Curl
  4. I am currently a 6.9 handicap but putting has always been a weakness for me. Admittedly, I have been playing since middle school (knocking on 40) and have not spent very much time practicing putting until the last year or two. I have been using a TaylorMade Spider for the past few years and am relatively confident with short putts. However, my lag putting is TERRIBLE. I almost never get the ball to the hole, especially in the 30'+range, and if I swing hard enough to get the ball there. I am as likely to blow it 6' by as leave it 6' short. I took a half dozen or so lessons with a coach I like last summer, only one of Which was putting. I need to get back with him but, haven't had a chance this summer. Currently, I am averaging 31.1 putts a round. I have had a few rounds with 27,27 and 29 putts in the last few times out. I do have to admit that my home course has greens that are tiny. I am not exaggerating in saying they are around the size of the postage stamp hole, well over half are in the 10x15y range. This skews my putting stats. Knowing this is a major weakness, I am starting to work on it. I went to the course last night and made a 3' ring around the cup with a couple of tees and paced off 30' putts. The practice green is small and sloped so I had one uphill and one downhill. I was 5/30 on getting inside the circle. Again, almost every putt coming up short. I had an Odyssey #1 in my truck and after the frustration grabbed it and went 6/12 from 30'. Seems like an obvious choice to switch but here is where I'm slightly hesitant. I have a whygolf putting thing and can roll through the tightest gate at about 80% of the time with the Spider but am about 40% or less with the Odyssey, mostly pulls. This is the reason I went with the Spider a few years ago, I was missing short putts. Does anyone have any advice or drills for improving? Currently, I am planning to try to hit 40-50 short putts through the putting thing daily and get to the course 2-3 times weekly to work on lag putting. I am considering putting the Odyssey back in the bag but don't want to destroy my short putt confidence.
  5. 80 today. I was +10 after 11, continuing my rough streak but finished 12-18 -1 and lipped the birdie putt 18 to just miss shooting a 79.
