  1. Watch the pre-game and then compare her voice during the game. I watched a bunch of games last season, none this year, and it was one of the first things I notice. Dallas sounds the same whether it's down on the field before the game, or on his podcast, or in the booth. She sounds much different. Renee Paquette (Renee Young) is another one where it's really noticeable in AEW or formerly WWE broadcasts.
  2. I think Morgan, like some other lady announcers, makes her voice on the broadcast sound differently than it does normally. I've noticed this with the A's play-by-play announcer Jenny Cavnar. When they speak in interviews, the voice sounds fine and normal. When the event goes live, they get some kind of faux raspy and deeper tone. It's odd.
  3. And I offer no disagreement to that. However, if we say that both weed and alcohol cause impairment, then why is alcohol near-universally viewed as OK on the course but weed is bad and should be banned?
  4. Really, the only help is to move your change to your left pocket, double knot your left shoe, turn your hat backwards, and put a tee behind your left ear. I've never seen shanks as a technical issue but a mental one. You just gotta change that mindset and not think about the shank.
  5. That's not just a problem with weed though. I've played with guys who drank until they were stumbling after 10 holes. Not that both aren't a problem, they definitely are. Just that it's not a problem unique to the rolled green. In general, I wouldn't have an issue with it. When I was in high school there were guys who'd smoke on the course, it was illegal in the state back then. I've known guys who'd roll one while rock climbing which is definitely a more dangerous activity. If the community has no problem with cigars and cigarettes, what's the problem with someone rolling a J?
  6. Currently drive a CR-V and the clubs fit fine. Previously had a Cadillac STS-V that also fit the clubs fine. I want to trade the CR-V and get a full-size SUV again.
  7. I was playing Peachtree in Atlanta over 10 years ago and there are no bathrooms on the course, or at least I didn't see one. I ask the caddie we had if there were any around. He said "you just gotta do a single? just go over in the trees, this here's a men's club." Maybe I was overthinking it but at a fundraiser for a high-end private school at probably the highest-end club in Atlanta, I just waited until I got back to the clubhouse. To the main question, yes but it depends on what course and where I am. If I can find a secluded spot on a course, if I gotta go I just step aside and do what's gotta be done. Wide open course or a private course where I'm someone's guest, definitely not.
  8. $600 isn't exactly cheap for a set of 6 irons that has more wear than you'd like them to have. Maybe the price is right, maybe it isn't, but if your first thought is that you don't like the amount of wear on them, don't get them. For me, grooves would have to be much more worn than what you see here for me to worry.
  9. Most likely he's taking about hitting a fade/slice, i.e. left to right movement for the right-handed player, right to left movement for the left-handed player. He could possibly be talking about a "cut lob" around the greens but I'd say if that's the case he's the deepest of deep Pelz disciples because Pelz is the only person I've ever heard or read who called a flop shot a "cut lob." If he making these comments on full shots or close around the green?
  10. I have a Google Sheets document that has my yardages. It used to be only wedge yardages, PW-GW-SW-LW-XW, with 8 yardages for each club, but I've expanded it recently to my full irons. Eventually, once I'm back to feeling pretty good with my swing, I'll add in 3/4 and 1/2 swings with all the irons (if you're a Pelz disciple that's the 10:30 and 9 o'clock swings). I just keep it on my phone since I generally use a GPS app for yardages and not a dedicated GPS or range finder.
  11. The limit for every person with a membership to play every day of the year is about 180 members. That's with zero guests, ever. With guests allowed it drops to about 45 members. And that's never playing more than 18 in a day. Unlimited golf, as in play as much as you want, whenever you want, every day, isn't a thing. But people think it is.
  12. Callaway 816DBD 10.5. But looking to upgrade fairly soon.
  13. When I was in the business I probably did something involving a golf club every day for over a year. In high school I probably went my last 3 years doing something involving a club every day except maybe a small handful. As an adult with a real job not in the golf business, probably a week is the longest I've done. But I hope to change that.
  14. Why not just get another FT-iQ if you hit it that well?
  15. Absolutely necessary? No. People have been buying clubs off the rack for many, many years. But, given that a lot of places apply the cost of fitting to the cost of the club, the fitting can be free, so why not get fit if that is the case?
  16. When I played one, I'd ditch the driver and 3W on shorter courses where I needed more coverage in the longer irons or wanted a 5th wedge (before I altered my iron set to permanently accommodate the 5th wedge). I found the mini to be very difficult to hit from the fairway. I would not use it on a course where I thought I would need a 3 or 4 wood from the fairway normally, but I had it as a ‘break in case of emergency’ club if there was no other option from the fairway. If you’re considering a mini as a driver and 3W replacement, why not just get a 12.5+ degree driver and just throw the 3W in the trash? Take an inch off the actual driver shaft if you want more control.
  17. I was there a week ago when it was that hot. It's fine. You're riding in a cart that has a cooler attached to it. It's pretty far from bad. Once again, it's golf in the desert, we're not marching the Bataan Peninsula here.
  18. You need the swing weight to be the same as what you normally swing. You could go with a heavier shaft to make up the difference or potentially an ultralight grip. But if the swing weight isn't correct, you'll have a lot of problems making good contact. It's not as easy as chopping 2 inches off the butt end of the shaft.
  19. I've been to the Valley twice in the last month. The temps are fine. Stay hydrated. What's the problem? I never understand why people act like they're being taken to the gallows when it's warm out.
  20. I'd say you need to be fitted for the correct shafts. The price range on those is quite wide. Steel iron shafts are priced anywhere from $10 to $70 a shaft and driver shafts are anywhere between $50 and $400+. I'd say you could be fit for a decent set of new shafts for probably $600 installed. You could also probably spend $2500 on new shafts if you went top end on everything. But being fit for correct shafts is never a bad thing. Just know your budget.
  21. If you're able to drive to Palm Desert, pretty much every public course in the Valley can be played for $100 or less this time of year. Including the PGA West Stadium course. I went out there a little over a week ago and played 4 rounds in 2 days for like $225 and the hotel was $50.
  22. I have this exact bag currently, in that camo fabric: WRX Spotlight: 2019 Ping Hoofer Series golf bags – GolfWRX Great bag. I'd say that, for me, the best golf bag ever made is the Ping Hoofer 2 from ca2000. I'd be much more likely to buy one of those over anything on the market today if my current bag breaks.
  23. Cool set. Always fun to see a set of older clubs when it seems like many here go through sets 2 or 3 times a year.
  24. I played Snake Eyes all through the bag for years. Always cool seeing guys play component clubs.
