  1. The conversation between thriver (lol) and mini-driver got me thinking a little bit. I wonder if it depends on your angle-of-attack on driver. I have a buddy that is a scratch to a plus 1 that hits down pretty significantly on everything including driver and he plays with a driver that is significantly shorter (tipped). It makes me think that maybe if the AoA on driver is positive then maybe a shortened driver is going to feel strange whereas if you tend to hit down even on driver shortening it makes it feel more natural? Could be coincidence but it kind of makes sense intuitively to me.
  2. I've been playing the Elyte 5-wood and I love it. Low profile, great sound, feel, and is really easy to hit. I would probably also hit the Qi35 core?
  3. No shot we basically just posted basically the same comment at the same time...
  4. I put in an R7 Quad Mini this year and I'm really happy I did. I have Driver, Mini, 5-wood, 4-hybrid at the top of my bag and my highest iron is a 5 iron. I belong to two clubs, one that is significantly shorter at 6400 yards max and one that is longer at 6700-7300 (very rarely play the tips). I only use the mini off the tee as even at the long course if I have 3 wood distance it's almost certainly a par 5 and i'm probably laying up with 5-wood or 4-hybrid. At the shorter club, I hit the mini driver on at least 5 holes off the tee because the dispersion is better or there is trouble at my normal driver landing distance. At the longer club, I use the mini driver off the tee on only 1 or 2 holes where there is either fescue on either side or a troublesome fairway bunker that I have trouble avoiding. I think the mini is at most a 20 yard loss off the tee for me which is more than acceptable given the accuracy.
  5. A buddy of mine at my club has been using it for a while and really likes it. I'm a sucker for plumber's neck putters so I've looked at it but currently swapping between a Toulon Las Vegas H1 and a Black 9.2r so feels unnecessary.
  6. Just gotta say, in addition to great putters Toulon is under-the-radar making awesome head covers.
  7. I think it's a matter of perspective for some of the people in this thread. I think this has the potential of being a good move for LAB. LAB's obvious strength is their ability to innovate (head shapes, press grip, and maybe even a heal shafted version if the prototype makes it to market) while their glaring weakness is the operation's ability to scale. I'd hope that LCat drives them to focus on their strength while streamlining their operations. I see LAB continuing to roll out new putter models but greatly reducing their custom options (do they really need 20+ different alignment markers?) and greatly streamlining their supply chain (how many people have had their putter delayed because TPT can't deliver shafts fast enough because LAB is their only putter customer?). To me the future LAB looks more like a traditional putter company than what it is today. To me, I think it's a win as that's the only way LAB will stick around for the long term, but for many original fans of LAB this will be seen as a big loss.
  8. I feel like believing that a PE firm is going to make a large CapEx outlay immediately after acquiring a majority stake in a company is pretty foolish. I think someone else mentioned this, but I would expect that anything that can be outsourced will be outsourced. Initially it will be all "stock" putter orders and those sent to big box stores will almost assuredly be outsourced as fast as possible. Additionally, I would expect any hand balancing still being done to also be replaced with an automated process. Over time, i think there will likely be a way to get something close in quality to the current LAB line but I would guess it would be significantly rarer and significantly more expensive than it is now.
  9. I think that’s what they meant by their original comment.
  10. Yeah I think my plan is to send it back to Toulon in the offseason and get the graphite shaft put in. i think today I figured out the difference, the assistant pro at my club that works on all my clubs found that the Scotty has a lower swing weight so we might play around with the weighting in the Scotty.
  11. Holy crap, are we the same person? Ordered the 9.2r from my club as soon as I saw the announcement. However, in between ordering it and the arrival I bought the 2025 Las Vegas H1 at Golf Galaxy and have had an unbelievable amount of confidence with it the last two or so weeks. Now I'm staring at the Scotty at home and loving the looks (probably more than the Toulon surprisingly) but just can't justify knocking the Vegas out of the bag...
  12. Custom ordered LAB OZ.1i counterbalanced with TPT shaft. Detailed specs in first screenshot. Comes with Masters Headcover. SOLD.
