JDMs that are comparable to Fujimoto irons in terms of feel?
leojax replied to adonad's topic in Japanese and Non-US
I have a set of Corey Paul Japanese wedges that are customized Fujimoto heads that are a few years old now. Best wedges I've ever played and looking for something similar to replace them. Thanks for the rec to Aspen Golf. -
Trying to help my son finish the top of his bag for the HS season, and I think mini driver or strong 3 may be the way to go as a fairway finder vs driving iron. There are a lot of options, especially with all the high lofted wood models. Thanks all for sharing your setups! Food for thought....

I've tested different gens of both, and added spin and mizuno sole just works better for me. The 925F has a bit more bounce than recent JPX iterations with leading edge relief, but less pronounced than the vsole.

I find the fits on Costco polos are more hit than miss, but I'm going to try these Amazon brand recs. Thanks!

Interesting. I only build a few sets a year, but invested in a dedicated Kalamazoo 1 x 42 belt sander a few years ago that I got used for a good price that works really great. I used a 1x30 harbor freight one before that was too high rpm to turn ferrules easily. The Kalamazoo takes up a lot of space tho, and intrigued by the versatility here and not needing a separate chop saw.

If you are trying to make changes to full swing, you need the range. Improvement is often not linear, and in my experience, my scores got worse before they got better when making swing changes. If you trust what you coach is telling you, and it sounds like there are reasons to, then trust that process. Depending on how significant the changes and how much you play/practice, it can take months. We can only work on 1 or 2 things max at a time at the range. And if you are trying to make changes, most swings should be less than full swings and drill based with an iron, with regular swings mixed in to connect that the the movement. Then you can focus on making the correct movement and a good coach should be able to evaluate your progress and let you know when you are ready to move on. Video can help.

It does look like some of the new Superstroke grips coming out of the merger have dropped. See here for example https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMF8INKx1L4/?igsh=MWRsODU4cXJvNnM2bA==

I tried this same experiment with one of my JPX 825 Pros a while back and was able to reattach the badge with 3M VHB F9473PC double sided adhesive transfer tape in 3'x3' squares and cut it to shape. But it seems like the badging is bigger and hiding more tech here. I don't recall seeing the same kind and extent of rubberized material you are showing, just adhesive. I imagine that stuff may have been used for tuning the sound. It would be good to know before gluing everything up again. It may be worth reaching out to Mizuno to see if they could tell you what they use.

A good quality grit edge aluminum oxide disc with most small saws will work for this. I prefer to use a 6" cut-off saw. I've built clubs for my kids throughout junior golf (both HS players now). It's a fun and practical way to go.

Really liking the ground interaction and forgiveness on the JPX 925 Forged. I get along better with that sole than the Srixon.

Mizuno options like STZ and STZ 230 over the last few years fly under the radar but are solid too. Very neutral.

Came here to say this, and they have a 4w retail version as well.

August 2012 for me, when I started playing more again after having kids. In addition to hoe'ing, there are a lot of really smart instructors and fitters/club builders that I've learned from on here over the years.

The i230's spin and launch more in my experience, and a bit more bounce too. If you are liking your launch conditions, then I'd go off that. Not sure the feel would be that much better, and not as soft as a 223.
