Disagree with this point—everyone doesn’t “love” LAB right now. The classifieds have plenty of them for sale, including custom models. These threads have plenty of folks chiming in for whom the putters didn’t work.
LAB also isn’t a “gimmick,” though there are certainly lots of people speaking up who think LAB is going to solve all of their problems and/or have outsized expectations for long-term putting trends based on limited data.
And then there are a few people in the middle who have tested them and found that the designs improved their putting statistics, so they happily continue to use them.
These forums always are that way—people taking the time to post more often than not feel passionately in one way or another about a product. I feel like it happens each year with OEM driver and iron releases. Nothing wrong with it, but also nothing especially…useful with it? People have to test for themselves to know what works best, clearly…but psychologically it feels good to either get the sense of validation for an expensive purchase one just made by reading loads of positive things or, in the other direction, to feel intellectually superior to the poor, unfortunate souls who Iet industry marketing guide their purchases hoping that a new single piece of equipment will solve all of their problems.
The entire golf equipment industry relies on the fringe opinions that are on display in these threads—companies need passion in their brands and (often misguided) belief in their products fueled by marketing. So, no…everyone doesn’t “love LAB” right now and LAB users aren’t all lemmings being led astray by fancy marketing. But if you’re looking for a place to get plenty of people making arguments in either of those directions, these forums aren’t a bad place to find it.
