  1. $Taper and Dynamic gold are almost as good of a fit and they both have more feel than the C Taper. I hit all in a fitting recently. DG was easiest to launch and felt "softest" of the 3, then $ Taper, then C Taper. I also would have had the same fear trying to play C Tapers. $ Tapers have been great.
  2. Coming from both Modus and X100 and now in $Taper, I had to add a decent amount of headweight to get the same feel. I have always preferred heavier swing weights also. I am currently at D6.
  3. I agree. I am 54 and about as fast as I have ever been...
  4. Love his content and a very unique approach.
  5. I have taken some lessons over the last 5 years both in person and online. Some instructors have been better than others. However, I can say I learned something from all of them. Listening to Iacas and Monte on here, and a few folks on YouTube (AMG, Mike Adams and Terry Rowles, etc.) have helped me understand the components of a good swing and what good sequencing looks like. I also have run some things by Valtiel as well. What I would say is that there are some consistent themes I have heard, but each person has stressed something different first and some have been more effective at getting me to change. However, not one of the teaching pros talked to me about how my hips outrace my arms (Valtiel did). In May, I went to Dan Carraher (iteachgolf on here) as he coaches at a course 20 minutes from me that I used to play all the time. I have known him for years, but he is pricey (and very good imo). He gave me a simple drill, but one that was very hard for me to do. I went out and shot 67 about two weeks later, but I knew I didn't have what he asked me to do ingrained. What he told me helped, but I wasn't "there" and I knew it. I still message him from time to time with progress, but just like the video Monte posted on IG today, I fail the two sequencing checkpoints. 43 years in my old pattern. 2 months into TRYING my new one. I am trying some different drills to get me there in addition to what Dan gave me (I am still doing that several times a week), but I am focused on what we talked about back in May as my end goal. I have a net and hit balls with 9 to 3 swings, slow motion swings, and full swings. I told him ahead of time I was willing to grind away on the work to get there. I was sick of my left misses. Progress is slow, but steady. In hindsight, if I had seen Dan 4 years ago, I might be miles better than I am now. I think a good instructor gets you to the heart of the matter the quickest. However, it still takes us, the students, to put in the work to understand the what and the why of the changes and spend the time trying to ingrain them. Just my 2 cents.
  6. Agreed - the optometrist saw them and referred me to the ophthalmologist. The optometrist that found them told me that they were VERY obvious. The OP's case may be different IF that is a suspicion.
  7. I have no idea. I just know I was having the same issues he was having and asked the exact same questions on this forum. I had been to a new optometrist within 4 months of being diagnosed with cataracts. I had told her of my issues of not seeing the golf ball and she never said a word about cataracts. I finally was panicked after a Sunday round where I didn't see a single ball fly and made an appointment with another eye outfit. The optometrist took one look at my eyes and told me I had them - and they were at a point where I needed surgery. I was also struggling to see when driving at night, especially in the rain. All should have been clues that I had something more serious going on. Neither of my previous optometrists had said a word. I said what I did so that maybe the OP would leave no stone unturned. We have lots of young people getting old people's diseases these days, so it is never to young to at least ask a question or two.
  8. For me, I was 20/20-25 with contacts, but I was struggling to see the ball, especially in low light conditions. It was cataracts. I was 53 at the time. I got cataract surgery and don't struggle to see the ball at all now.
  9. I play TS1's. In NO way would I consider the 3i. They are too small and certainly not anywhere near the category of a "utility iron."
  10. How about the factory making the Avalon 6? Just picked up 3 on clearance.
  11. I am right handed and right eye dominant and am almost the opposite of everything you describe and have been for a while.
  12. Agreed. Played Modus 120X a while back. Loved the feel, but struggled to control them. Hit $Taper and CTaper in my fitting. These definitely feel firmer everywhere, which suits me well. I also hit Modus 130X and didn't get along with it. Loved the feel. So, to me, the Modus feel the softest at impact, but the two KBS shafts I tried felt firmer, but performed better for me. Only shaft I ever played that was similar was DG Sensicore X100. Felt almost as soft, but EI profile also quite different.
  13. What i kept noticing was his left foot post impact. Never noticed it move that way. Much like modern players.
