I always feel like it is a mindset. Watch how fast the Euro putts go in the hole. They are always putting to make. I feel like the US Players try to play their normal tour game. Too much lagging and bogey avoidance. Ryder Cup is about birdies and eagles.

They are huge in Crossfit. -
I used to buy a Leonard Maltin movie Guide every other year or so. He is one of the only reviewers that reviewed Caddyshack2 higher than the original. It kind of starts with the premise that Caddyshack was more of a disjointed series of vignettes rather than a cohesive movie and I do believe there is some truth to that. Caddyshacj2 really had no redeeming quality, so I am not sure how it got a better rating. HG2 was pretty terrible, and I am pretty agreeable to very inane and silly movies. Abrahams and Zucker movies (Airplane, Top Secret, Naked Gun, Mafia, etc) are things I can watch anytime. I like Farley Brothers, Coen Brothers and Tarantino as well. HG2 had one good gag (Zalatoris). The whole Daly thing makes no sense. Happy is destitute but somehow Daly live in his garage. Bruce might be the stiffest thing ever shown on film. Cameos can be fun but they can't be a movie. I will say that is I didn't know that was Julie Bowen I would not have recognized her. It is good how Sandler takes care of his buddies some that need it and some that don't. Dan Patrick and Steve Buscemi are interesting friendships. You understand the Schneider, Lovitz, Spade and other SNL guys but the Nick Swardson, Blake Clark, Jonathan Loughran, Allan Covert. He must be a good dude.

My point wasn't necessarily the number now versus then but more that over time there were always guys winning or is nowhere and that guys with sustained success is sort of linear. Over 35 years give it take a bunch of guys win but there aren't a lot of guys truly dominating.

Nothing is drying up but the desire. I really wonder how much longer they are really going to be interested in this venture. We all know that cash isn't an issue, but maybe the desire to see it through is lacking. -
I for one never have bought the depth of field arguments. It has always been there. It always seems better at the time because you are seeing JJ Spaun or Harris English play well. Those guys have always existed. Since 2000 there have been 21 guys win at least 10 times on the PGA tour. Starting at 2010 that numbers goes down to 15. Only Scheffler and Rory have won 10 times since 2020. There has always been a good depth of field on tour.

The funny thing with golf is you never know when you are driving over the cliff. YJS didn't know it was coming. JT didn't know it was coming. Everyone was ready to crown Aberg as the next great player. So were Smylie Kaufman, Will Zalatoris, and Cameron Champ. Golf is really an evil mistress. https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx3UNSpaXZwjhukCTcIJ0dGQ-jPbuectp-?si=qfOP9W0FqNLgz43o

It is amazing the difference "lift, clean, and cheat" makes.

No IBF. No Zinger. Good to see new targets coming to complain about.

How Many Major Championships will Scottie Scheffler Win?
johnseg replied to AintNoHobby's topic in Tour Talk
Well, nobody would have bet on 11 years between Majors for Rory. It just goes to show it is hard to win on a specific week. Your game has to be on point and someone else can't go nuts. I look back at Stenson's Open Championship at Troon. It didn't matter how good someone else played (Phil posted -17) he was going to win. Those things happen sometimes. I would be surprised if Sheffler went 11 years without a major but not floored. -
Gotterup and the like are tough ones. You want to see the young guys take the mantle but you also want a little proof that the streak is not just that. Is Gotterup the Scottish Open / Open Championship guys or is he 9 missed cuts in 23 events and only 11 top 25's guy? I don't think you can go to him without more results the next few weeks.

LIV has also not tried to work within those bounds. They have just said you have to fix this for us. -
two years is a lifetime ago in this game. It really is a what you have done for me lately business. In 2024 he was T45, T26, T26, and T43 at the Masters, PGA, US Open, and the Open. He just backed those result up with Cut, Cut, T12, and Cut. Plus, he only has 2 LIV wins in the last two years to support any majors' results. At the end of the day that says career is going the wrong way. Whether that is fair or not doesn't matter. It is the reality of the state of his game.

How Many Major Championships will Scottie Scheffler Win?

The number is almost always going to be lower than you think. There are only four majors a year and the chance of being the best player those four weeks is slim. That is why guys don't win that many. I think a total of 8 is probably a good number. I can't say if one of those is a US Open but I don't think there is a reason why one couldn't be. -

The problem again with the strokes gained approach is that he is being compared to only other LIV players. -

Just more a statement about you being on WRX and saying something positive about the golf media makes your credentials Suspect.

LIV Tour Discussion Thread (*** NO POLITICS ***)
johnseg replied to SheriffBooth's topic in Tour Talk
It is my belief that their initial model was to have a bunch of high-profile events (maybe 😎 that all of the PGA Tour's top talent would be committed to 100%. The Tour pushed back and said we aren't giving you out guys for 8 weeks during our season when there are other tournaments going on. If you try to get player to commit, we will suspend them. Then LIV regrouped and changed the model. Doubled the amount of events went crazy signing players etc. Remember the Sergio/Sharkie Baby conversation when Sergio told him that they were going to suspend players and Norman told him they can't and won't. The LIV we have isn't the LIV they wanted, at least in my opinion.
