  1. What do you think about cutting down a stock driver shaft to use in the mini at 43.75. Do you think the shaft will add spin and change the characteristics resulting in the mini not preforming as good as it could?
  2. For me, I wouldn't replace a driver with a mini because they are not as forgiving as the bigger head. I would be more apt to cut the shaft down and add weight to the big driver and play a shorter one at the mini driver length of 43.75 inches or so for better control. The Mini's are a lot harder to hit off the fairway than a 3wd but then again, the 3wd isn't the easiest for most golfers either. I put a 13.5 deg Mini in the bag but only as a 3wd replacement and for strictly off the tee type club. I have no plans on hitting it off the turf, that's what my 5wd or 7wd is for. If you want to replace the driver with one and play it off the turf like a 3wd, then I would suggest the 13.5 head not the 11.5 one so it is a little better height wise off the turf or at least should be. Of course this is just my opinion. It also may depend on how far you hit both clubs.
  3. I play 8 clubs and think that my setup allows me to as you put it have "full coverage" which will allow me a chance to score decent. I go with driver, 5wd, 4H, 6i, 8i, PW, SW and putter. Anything less I don't think I can score good. I would never consider removing the putter either as that would just add strokes to my score.
  4. Yeah I get that! When I said I learned something about avoiding trouble, we all do that but he does that in this video to a whole new level which I guess I didn't even think about with the minimalist setup. He seemed to hit his PW more often than the hybrid even though distance wise he could which was cool to see and know why he is doing that. Of course he probably hits his PW as long or longer than me hitting a hybrid! lol
  5. I'm 62. If I play the 11.5 head during this weekend's round to try it for myself, then I cannot return it so I will have to really think about it and decide before Sunday's round. I have a shaft ready for it at 43.75 length and I have an extra weight to add to it if needed but I guess that is not much of an issue with a Mini vs cut down big driver. My next club too is a 5wd also for the same reason, then a hybrid in my second bag. In the first bag, I go driver, mini, 5wd, 7wd.
  6. To me, this is impressive golf with only four clubs. I wouldn't stand a chance, well maybe a small chance but I enjoyed watching it for sure! I learned something too about him avoiding possible trouble. Very cool.
  7. Could you get better consistency if you just used a shorter shafted big driver? It would give you more forgiveness and should be longer? I love Elyte mini as a 3wd replacement only. I don't hit it off the deck and rarely struggle off the tee with driver. I picked up a second mini but it is the 11.5 head vs the 13.5 I like so not sure it will fit for the 3wd replacement in my second bag. I have been asking if anyone is using the 11.5 as a 3wd without any issues. I think for a main driver, I would stick to the thriver concept for extra forgiveness and because I am older and don't want to lose more yardage off the tee box so thinking about returning the 11.5 one as it might not fit very well for my 3wd replacement.
  8. I just commented there about the thriver concept. I think that if I struggled with the driver, I would want a shorter shafted big head driver for more forgiveness vs the mini head. I also can't afford to lose 15-20 yards in driver distance using a mini as the main driver since I can only get about 210 now being I am getting old. 🙂 I have a 13.5 Elyte mini in my main bag as a 3wd replacement off the tee only club. I picked up a 11.5 one thinking I would put it in the second bag as the same 3wd replacement off the tee only club but I am thinking it may be too low of loft for that purpose so I wondered if anyone uses one as a main driver. So I was thinking about returning the 11.5 head.
  9. To me it would depend on your yardages that you hit and course you play. Let's just say that if I did that, I would never be able to reach par 4's in two. None of them seem to be less than 370 or so. lol
  10. This is probably a strange question but has anyone put in a stock driver shaft into the mini? Just so they could get a smaller headed driver or whatever! I had someone ask me this today and I told them, I have not seen or read anywhere where someone has done that! 🙂
  11. I am really enjoying my set of the core Elyte irons with the Recoil HDC 70 shafts.
  12. Mine are old Cobra's Oversize irons from 2002 so I have 6i at 30, 8i at 37 and PW at 45. I cannot play or try the odd irons since I only have the even ones! My setup looks like this: Driver 10.5 deg set to 9.5 5wd at 19 deg 4H at 23 deg 6i at 30 deg 8i at 37 deg PW at 45 deg SW at 56 deg Putter
  13. I just got one and used it for the first time today as a 3wd replacement off the tee club. I used it on a par 3 at 202 yards and stuck the green. It was down hill some so we figured about 190. Happy with that since my drives are only about 210-220 tops nowadays! I get the part that it may not see much use as it is course dependent but I am okay with that and if I play a course that the yardages don't seem to fit it, I may pull it out and put something else in that I may be able to use like a hybrid or extra wedge.
  14. Mine did that alot and I kept having to refresh to get it to show back up once I left the cart and browsed some more. That is correct. You pay full amount and then when they receive your trade items, they will credit back the amount of the trade in value.
  15. Well I received my Elyte mini today and my 5wd and 7wd so ready for tomorrow's round. The only problem is that I still have over $1400 in gift cards and I don't need anything else! What to do, what to do! lol
