  1. hmmmm multiple wives more acceptable vs not much alcohol available Decisions decisions
  2. I'm not a native so I pile on. More so because the natives blame everything on the snowbirds and vacationing people....(AKA a very large part of our economy).
  3. Welcome to FL, typical Tuesday People get pissed if you're going 10mph OVER the speed limit in the right lane on a non highway and will cut your off and brake check you.
  4. Answering more questions I saw. Yes it's a work / company league, we all work for the same company. Basically any course runs them you call and ask about rates, benefits. day / time availability for the season and we picked one for the year. On reflection it's not the members that irked me per se, but their actions. I get you paid money, but you still need to book a time that's the rule. I get you live on the course and I'd play a few holes too if I did, but I wouldn't hold up other paying persons doing so.
  5. Overall they're both pieces to the puzzle, speed and a repeatable swing. Strokes gained data has shown, and I'd say very well established that distance is a big deal. If one gained a 15 yds now they're hitting a GW instead of 8i into a green assuming 30 yd tptal gain on the whole. Now yes if you're OB that's another story but I'll take that GW from the rough over an 8i from the fairway all day
  6. So to answer your questions membership gets you advanced tee times compared to the public 14 days vs 7. Member events, discounts on pro shop merchandise, and discounted tee times and ability to pay a trail fee to use a person cart. So they're suppose to still book all their times, and the time is blocked for leagues in the system. As for leagues we're the only one per the calendar so one day one 9 is closed for 2.5 hours. Correction: there are some levels of membership that buy unlimited tee times but all times must be booked through the proshop / computer system
  7. There's signs in the proshop, where it says so. Main issue I think is people just roll in from the community and don't check
  8. Not looking for answer or anything, just a rant at people. I will note that the course pro and GM do all they can do so absolutely zero hard feelings on them. Background: So our league plays a semi private course. We have enough for 11 foursomes and the course gives us one nine to shotgun start for our 9 hole round. When we play any members or public that wants to play are told you're playing the other nine. Also this course is in a community so many people and members have their own golf carts. Rant is why do members think it doesn't matter and they can just come in and play whatever hole they want? I know since May I've had to talk to 3 groups of these clowns who try to sneak in wherever they please. 1 group was apologetic and took off to the other nine. Another straight up ignored us saying this nine is for league only, had to call the pro shop and they took care of it quick. Last group it happened to was the worse 3 older men, (60+), Walked up said excuse me, just so you know this nine is for our league today, I'm sure the back nine is open. They got immediately confrontational in walked up uncomfortably close, with the you know I'm a member here comment. Again semi-private you get pro shop credit and advance tee times compared to public. my partner is calling the proshop as this happens, and I keep trying to be reasonable, but they're insistent that they can play whenever wherever as members, FYI no you still need a tee time and to check in. Finally we see the GM coming out and these guys took of with the GM chasing them. If this was a one off I wouldn't be ranting but 3 times in my group alone, I know it's happened to other groups as well. I don't recall this happening at all the last few years either at the same course, I guess they changed the local water? Rant over
  9. can you show me where on the doll Titleist hurt you?
  10. I'd say the biggest issue with golfers is themselves (no shock there). Too many want the quick fix, Too many don't put in enough meaningful, purposeful practice, And the biggest thing IMO too many think they can learn and incorporate 3 changes a week
  11. I mean you engage the core when straining so maybe he's doing the same haha
  12. There's ways to do it. Issue is and mentioned above mindset. In a individual medal competition you want to score well but have to avoid a blow up. In ryder cap it's a match and you play more aggressively as dictated. Imagine having to decide between an aggressive approach on 18 to win you match or a safe play and 2 putt to win the medal. That being said you could make all the holes worth a point, and then do match play events. Most points wins the match and ryder cup, and you can enter scores for the medal. I would stipulate to gimmies in the match play since you have medal involved as well.
  13. Damn I'm 37 and I've tweaked my back a) picking up a gum wrapper of the floor, and B) changing my babies diaper. I warm up each round with the 4 Mackenzie stretches just to be 'normal' Side note whoever says wait for kids is wrong you have more energy and flexibility in your 20s ....side rant over
  14. background needed: Local semi private course is rumored to be for private sale to some members of a nearby private course who aren't a fan of recent changes there. Guy 1: I really hope it gets bought out I hate have to compete for tee times 7 days in advance to get out in the morning Guy 2: you know they have a basic membership here currently for $40 a month. Gets you unlimited range and 10 day tee times Guy 1: yeah but I still don't want to pay for early tee times, going private takes care of that. Guy 2: How there's still group coming out whether lottery and booking online Guy 1: Yeah but at least I'm not paying for that then
  15. 80+% of golfers (at least in the US) don't maintain a handicap
