Look beyond just the wins from this year:
Scottie
16/16 cuts made
16/16 Top 25
13/16 Top 10
8/16 Top 5
Only player to finish Top 10 in all 4 majors (2 wins, 4 & T7)
Rory
13/14 cuts made
12/14 Top 25
8/14 Top 10
5/14 Top 5
Majors (1 win, T47, T19, T7)
When you look at the totality of the season to this point, it isn't even particularly close. Scottie separates even more than just wins. Rory has had an incredible year and kudos for finishing off the career Grand Slam, but his floor is lower than Scottie's and he tends to disappear at times. Scottie is just so consistent at a high level. His floor is incredibly high. Can Rory do something amazing in his last couple of tournaments and change the conversation? Sure, but I find it unlikely that he will end up with a case that is stronger than Scottie's.
