Well that’s not quite true. The tour has final approval over sponsors exemptions. This was an issue with him and the tour, not him and the Barracuda. They would have LOVED to have him there.

And I guess that’s the double edge sword of this kinda stuff. The tour extends an invite to a guy who positions himself as and “elite” golfer, who monetized his skills in a different way…all for him to say no, and place the blame on the tour for not allowing him to monetize this particular version of golf. The MP3 example is great. I don’t think the tour ever thought this through past giving the exemption, and when he asked to film the event, it spooked them and they said absolutely not. Saying yes to filming could have been their Pandoras Box, and destroyed their stranglehold on the media rights.

In all seriousness, George has “vlogged” a few of Wesley’s rounds at the RBC a few years back that was pretty cool. Just an outside the ropes view, so it definitely could have been done. I kinda agree on whiffing on the opportunity though. Like it’s a PGA tour event. You HAVE to tee it up, just to say you did it!

What did I take out of context? The four scores you posted that Nelly shot during that event have zero correlation to what a scratch golfer “would” or “could” or “might” have shot those same four days anymore than the scores shot at the same place at another moment in time, so please stop presenting it as a fact. There were zero men on the course for those four days, and no mention of course conditions during those tournament days either. Such as: where were the pins, how firm were the greens, was the wind blowing, was it raining, rough height, bunkers raked parallel or horizontal to the greens surface…all things that change from a professional event where the course has no say in the setup, to a course hosted event where they control everything, and that is aimed at amateurs. I have agreed with you on a lot of high level golf issues, but this one I can’t. I’m sorrry!

Compared to professional golfers, who go to work at the golf course and play Thursday thru Sunday for their bread. Not the 42 year old father of 3 who played at “Insert state college here” in the late 90’s

Now that’s an answer I can respect. I’m not going crazy defending women, scratch golfers just aren’t that good.

Well you said yourself, the scratch only hits that number 40% of the time, so seems like guaranteed money to me taking the professional…..you know….MATH
