ordering through the peoples clubs, payment question
dubg replied to dubg's topic in Deal or No Deal?
all the information is good. it is their email, we talked for weeks about this order and specs back and forth and I voiced my concerns about many things and he has been great through email talking me through the process. it is not as if he's asking for random gift cards to be purchased and then sent to him, just to go on this website and purchase the amount this build is in gift cards for payment (which I did) and that it will keep all of my information on my account so they can send updates of the build as well as tracking info when that time comes. he talked me through 1 or 2 different options of payment as well and they are trying to work on software for a work around when these builds are ordered through email and specs of build are discussed over email but for right now these are the options. ive never seen a bad review and so far from my experience the CS has been fantastic and all my question and concerns have been answered and someone else said this is how he had one transaction with the peoples clubs and nothing to worry about so hopefully in 4-6 weeks I will message you for that mortgage payment to be sent to me :))) lol only time will truly tell I guess -
ordering through the peoples clubs, payment question
dubg replied to dubg's topic in Deal or No Deal?
it was their company email on the website. we talked for a few weeks over email about this order and I think its 1) easier on their end to have a custom order be purchased this way when discussed over email for a few weeks and 2) he explained this way they will have my info on their back end of the order so I can get updates and tracking info when that time arrives. -

I did go through with it. he did explain the whole situation over email and the reasons why and they are working on a work around for orders discussed and purchased through email. it is nice that he gave me the time of day to voice my concerns and explained things in detail, really good CS from him. glad to hear you had this situation for me to be hopeful it will work out just fine and there's nothing to be concerned about thanks mate -
ordering through the peoples clubs, payment question
dubg replied to dubg's topic in Deal or No Deal?
he did say I can also pay through pay pal and he can send an invoice or he can have someone call me to place the order through the phone. but if I went on the website and did the gift cards through the website he said it would keep all my info on the back end on his side so he has info to give me updates and send tracking info when that time comes. everyone has said great things about this company so I have hope im not being scammed. he did also mention he understands me being skeptical and they are working on a new system in order to fix this situation for future builds. I dont think payment options would be this way if we hadn't been back and forth for weeks about club build specs and all that information through email. I guess time will tell we will see -
ordering through the peoples clubs, payment question
dubg replied to dubg's topic in Deal or No Deal?
yes, we've had back and forth emails for the past few weeks now about this new club build and all specs sent through email so he said in order to keep the specs that ive sent and he can get started on the build to just do the payment through gift cards on the website. I have heard nothing but good reviews and yes im a bit skeptical but I trust that he's not just taking my money and he said I could pay through different methods but this way he will have all the shipping info and my information so that he can send updates and tracking updates. it is strange to me as someone else said any payment being in gift cards is usually a scam so im still a bit nervous about the purchase but everything he explained makes sense so im trusting him and hopefully it isn't a big waste of money. I guess only time will tell -
this is a first for me ordering a custom built set of irons. chatted through email with the peoples clubs a ton and have my specs and all the club info for order. now its time to order and the email says since all the specs are here in the email, use this like and grab the amount of money the irons will cost in gift cards off the link sent. that way they have shipping information in the backend and can quickly and easily send tracking and updates on the build. ive never ordered from a custom builder let alone the peoples clubs although they have great reviews im a little skeptical of this payment method of just buying a certain dollar amount of gift cards without an invoice for the specific order, I dont know something seems a bit off here. anyone have any experience like this with the peoples clubs to reassure me about this order? it isn't cheap and ive heard great things im just a touch skeptical about this payment method but maybe its nothing I need to be concerned about

isn't it not recommended to tip a taper shaft?
-
this is actually more helpful than you may think. the perspective of I dont know any better and either option has slight risks if you will so choose one and if it doesnt work out then I learned something in the process. thats helpful. so for now I will stick with the x100 8i shaft in my wedges and if that feels too soft over the course of testing when they arrive I will re shaft them and I will have learned something new about how I perceive the shaft to feel. I understand this is probably a topic that is so subjective you may be tired of answering these questions but do appreciate the time to get someone else's point of view, so thank you for contributing Stuart 🙂

the label on my current wedges is s200 although its nearly pealed all the way off lol but its still there. I know this whole gear situation especially something like wedges when it comes to bounce/grind and even shaft and shaft length is so unique to the individual. I appreciate the feedback. I just hate the idea of ordering a set of clubs and having to possibly re shaft them to get the right fit of shaft. then if that one actually doesnt work out better reshaft again to go back to the previous shaft. this is why initially I mentioned im gunna take the in between of both worlds and order x100 8 iron shafts for my wedges so it will be firmer than the s400 in theory but more feel than x100 straight in. now im questioning if I should just keep it even more simple and do x100 straight all the way through and stop overthinking this. I hate to message the builder one last time with one last change ya know edit: simply put. do you think there is enough of a difference to order 1xss x100 over standard x100 for wedges. from a data point of view not a anecdotal personal experience perspective
-
the only reason to think I need a middle ground is a lot of conversation around the x100 being to stout for wedges on partial shots and finesse shots. I think it's tough for me to decide on which one to go with as ive never had anything in wedges but s200 because I always bought off the shelf. I do understand only so much can be said to me about the topic and at the end of the day I need to get one in my new wedges and test and see how it plays out. my though is that the x100 is a solid shaft for me in my irons and if I soft step the x100 (8iron shaft) into my wedges I can have a very similar feel to my irons with a touch more feel than the x100 straight in. I know my weakness with any thought or conversation around gear is getting too deep into the weeds and nuances surrounding these things and frankly I think if I have the x100 straight in or soft stepped I dont think it will change all that much for me and I will make either work. I am just a bit of a perfectionist and for the money of new golf clubs and gear I want to make sure it's as perfect of a fit as it can be. I dont have the luxury of testing different shafts in wedges before I purchase unfortunately so im trying to ask questions and grow my knowledge so I can make the best informed decision and not just "this one works for irons so it must work for wedges" ya know. hopefully these next few months I can get some club building equipment and start that journey so I can actually pull shafts and test these differences side by side but thats not until the coming months

would you say a soft stepped x100 into wedges is a good middle ground? an 8 iron x100 shaft into wedges? or is that difference negligable
-
gotcha, ive never heard of this grip before... guess I have a new rabbit hole to go down haha
-
gotcha yea im less thinking about the x100 soft stepped as a realistic option. more so the x100 straight in or the s400 straight in. it for sure is the softer flex of the shaft, all the weights are very similar im not sure id notice 2gram weight difference in shafts. but it is difficult to time the s200 shaft I currently use and if I give it anything close to a 3/4 swing It just launches so high and I can't control distance with them. so my though is to go s400 straight into wedges although ive seen a lot of people like to play their iron shaft into wedges. again I have no experience with anything other than s200 in wedges so im trying to extrapolate generalized data to make an educated decision without being able to test both of these options before hand. I think I mentioned in the post but I think either s400 or x100 in wedges is going to a be a big upgrade from where im at, I dont think either will necessarily be wrong

I plan on PW 35.75" then GW,SW,LW all 35.5". this is also a first for me to not have standard progression but I find LW at 35" is too short for my natural address and if anything I can always trim .25" which is still slightly above standard. you tip your wedges? not soft step the same iron shaft rather make that same iron shaft stiffer for wedges?
-
DGTI X100 in irons, thinking either S400 in wedges or soft stepped 2x X100 in wedges. my thoughts are the added weight of the S400 in wedges would be good. likewise the same profile of X100 from irons to wedges but just an extra 1/2 flex softer in wedges is also a good option. for reference I have nothing to go off other than always playing a stock s200 wedge shaft and I absolutely hate it. anything more than just a partial swing balloons and I would expect that shot to have more spin but it lacks spin. I digress.... what do you play in wedge shafts compared to irons and from what I have mentioned im assuming its really just a get one a try it out as I have nothing else to go off. id like to spare re-shafting my wedges to test the other shaft and possibly having to re shaft again to go back to the first shaft so just wanted to ask and see others experience and see if I can judge my answer based on what others may have experienced. I like a penetrating flighted wedge shot where I can count on the spin to hold up and check

isn't this kind of the golf pride mcc grips? I thought they were more corded feel in the top hand and more rubbery in the bottom hand. not sure if this is the "half cord" your talking about

heavier shaft change question, all else equal in build
dubg replied to dubg's topic in Avg Joe Swings Stiff and Below
I know its all subjective im just trying understand the way a heavier shaft impacts the feel, and since a lot of people like yourself seem knowledgable about specs of shafts and clubs, like you mention about the steelfibers having a higher balance point, I figured a general estimation of a 1 to 1 build could help me determine what swing weight I should order for a custom build. so currently im using i110 stiff shafts in mizuno jpx 923 forged heads if the head matters for this. I am ordering a custom built set of 620mb heads with DG tour issue x100 shafts. so up a flex but more importantly IMO it is roughly 20 grams heavier and a different balance point and bend profile. my current setup with the steelfiber shafts is roughly D3 although I have done the at home DIY swing weight scale method and they seem to be a bit off although that could be me measuring slightly wrong. so for sake of this comparison lets just say D3. again I know the feeling of D3 for one person to the next is subjective as well as D3 is not the same feeling build to build depending on components. which is exactly what im trying to get an estimation on from someone who is knowledgable about this type of thing in an in depth way. this is really for piece of mind as I dont want to get this new set and realize the swing weight is all off for my "feel" and have the whole set re built to a different swing weight. I have tested this setup many times and I liked the feel and every time I asked for the set up to be swing weighted it came out around D5. im trying to do my best to not get held up on a specific SW number as D5 felt pretty good but in my head thats a real heavy swing weight for irons and especially moving to a heavier shaft by a pretty large jump I am trying to figure out how those two things work together. so D5 in this new set up may not be so exaggerated compared to if I built my current set at D5. this new set at D5 might actually be like where my current set is at D3 and if all of this is just me blabbering on and overthinking this thing than thats fine too if there's nothing anyone can add but I have to suggest a specific swing weight and am trying to dial with the difference in weight of shaft and balance point of shaft what would be a good estimation to order. then I can always use lead tape if needed to dial it in and rebuild the set -
so lets say all else is equal. grip weight, shaft length, same heads and head weight. if I reshaft my irons from steelfiber 110cw shaft into dynamic gold tour issue x100 shafts. what could I expect different in the feel? obviously DG x100 is roughly 20g heavier BUT from my understanding it also has a lower balance point. so if all else is equal in the build would I feel more weight towards the head? in terms of the swing weight measurement which I know is a heated topic at times... but all else being equal in the build lets say the steelfiber 110 build comes out to D3, what could I expect from the reshaft into dgx100? im just trying to get an understanding of how shaft weight can change the feel during the swing, just trying to understand the nuance behind these topics so I can learn for when im changing something like shaft profile and shaft weight what I can expect during the build and what I may have to change in the build. so In this example maybe I need to add weight to the head because the heavier shaft will have me loose connection with the head or vice versa I dont know which is why I want to gain the knowledge of this type of topic. I hope the question I am curious about is not so confusing. also hoping for this example someone has the knowledge of the shaft profiles that I listed and can give a rough estimate of what the difference would be in feel. yes I know the heavier shaft will be more static weight in general but maybe the balance point can change where that weight is being felt? someone help me learn hahaha thank you !!

x100 iron shafts into wedges or s400 in wedges
dubg replied to dubg's topic in Avg Joe Swings Stiff and Below
I think for the sake of me never having anything in my wedges other then s200, im going to go with dg s400 in all three wedges after PW so GW-LW will be s400. I can always change shafts if I need to thats not so big of a deal. and no im not scottie scheffler but he plays s400 shafts from GW-LW and plenty of others as well so well test it out coming from a s200 wedge shaft I think anything will be an improvement lol. now the question ive been debating for a while of swing weight is there. always played a constant SW 4i-pw and my other wedges have been maybe a point heigher. I like a consistent feel through set so im not the biggest fan of the idea of MOI matching. ive never tested it but also just think a consistent feel through the irons seems more important to me I dont know. all of these spec talks about new builds really stress me out as there are so many options and some of those options like swing weight and moi matching are Kinda opposites of each other and without testing its hard for me to make a decision- 6 replies

im a little nervous to be honest lol. first time changing wedge length. they will be custom built to the same swing weight as I have read that that can become a concern. my LW has always felt too short at 35" where I get very steep on the ball. I naturally have a more upright and taller address position so my thinking is a touch longer in the SW and LW will give me a uniform setup to all wedges and improve impact. wedges are 50/56/60. the rest of my iron set follows a 4 degree progression all the way to GW (50) and since all wedges are the same length I figured make the SW a 6 degree difference in loft to combat possible tight distance gap between 50 and what would normally be 54, so I got a 56. I full swing and 3/4 swing all my wedges although the 60 is used a bit more for those touchy finesse shots I do still like to swing it close to full depending on situation on the course. so all my wedges will be 1/4" short of PW but all uniform in length at 35.5". is the difference in length something I might not even notice, should I expect a different ball flight? anything I should be weary of, or am I just now staring to overthink for no reason lol. i guess worst comes to worst I can trim the SW and LW 1/4 inch to 35.25" but I do know 35 flat is too short for me.

x100 iron shafts into wedges or s400 in wedges
dubg replied to dubg's topic in Avg Joe Swings Stiff and Below
interesting. since I have no experience with anything other than s200 wedge shaft which is like a noodle to me. since thats the case im conflicted as I have no other experience to go off of. maybe ill match my GW to my irons and with SW LW s400. maybe the extra weight will compensate for flex and give me better touch on feel shots. I have a tendency with heavy headed wedges to loose touch so maybe the added weight in the shaft will help in that are. and if I find the opposite is true well then its not the end of the world to re shaft 2 wedges- 6 replies

x100 iron shafts into wedges or s400 in wedges
dubg posted a topic in Avg Joe Swings Stiff and Below
I am custom ordering an iron set with DG TI x100 shafts. my wedges go as such, GW 50, SW 56, LW 60. im definitely putting x100's in my GW, but not sure if I should go all the way through the wedges. I use my GW 90% of the time for full shots or 3/4 knockdown shots. my SW and LW I use both of those for bunker play depending on conditions and length of bunker shot as well as height of the bunker I need to get out of. both get used for green side finesse shots depending on conditions and lie. Both SW and LW are also used for 3/4 shots into greens depending on pin placement whether its a tight pin tucked over a bunker or a back pin where I need a one hop stopper type of shot. I use all of my wedges for "fuller" shots but also need the feel around the greens as they are all versatile in their own way. so im not sure if I should match the progression of x100 all the way through for that same feel of shaft. as of right now I have it marked up to be x100 down to GW and S400 in SW/LW with the thought that if I dont like the different feel of the S400 I can always reshaft into x100. I will also note a problem I have in this decision is I have never played anything but a stock s200 shaft in wedges which I have come to realize is way too soft for me. so in comparison to what ive always played off the shelf I do think either the S400 or x100 is going to be a noticeable upgrade and will make a world of a difference for my wedges. but if anything I have explained here helps someone educate me on which shaft (s400/x100) would likely be the best to go with in wedges or if my idea of the s400 in SW/LW is a good idea please share your knowledge and any information to add. this is my first time with a true custom set and I want to make the correct choices cheers!! EDIT: I also have for the first time decided to go with GW-LW the same length at 35.5 for consistency and am quite nervous about that change. although my idea is worst case scenario I just cut down my SW and LW to standard length if need be. but if anyone can share experience on same length GW-LW for the first time that would be helpful for perspective thanks!!- 6 replies

I have heard good things about the peoples clubs. haven't found anything on DJ builds. both quotes are within $200 of each other. though one would save more money but since they are so similar I figured id ask around and see what people think about these builders if they have any experience with either. more so DJ builds because I have not heard of them but found his page and he was very responsive and seems competent to build to spec. curious to hear what y'all have to say thanks!!

swing weight comparison different builds
dubg replied to dubg's topic in Avg Joe Swings Stiff and Below
also since you seem super knowledgeable I dont think I mentioned any specs on this build and maybe it will help determine if D5 will be okay. coming from steel fiber 110g shafts in mizuno jpx 923 forged heads. standard length 2.5 degrees upright. standard grip size with 3wraps under (46.5g grip) Swing Weight D3 going into Dynamic Gold Tour Issue x100 shafts into Taylor Made P7TW heads. standard length .5 degrees upright. standard grip size with 3 wraps under (46.5g grip) Swing weight D5 maybe this information can help me make a educated decision on that swing weight question. I do appreciate your time here 🙂 -
swing weight comparison different builds
dubg replied to dubg's topic in Avg Joe Swings Stiff and Below
I did get fit at CC and during testing each new shaft/head combo I had him tell me the SW of each. honestly this combo that he said was D5 I did like the feel of. I tend to have a quick transition from the top and it felt like it forced me to have a smoother transition which lead to better ball striking. my current set up in my irons I have to focus on ever shot to have a slight "pause" at the top and its really hard to focus on a smooth transition for 18 holes, there is always a few shots where I get quick and miss my target. so anecdotally if im trusting that the club handed to me was in fact D5 then I shouldn't have a problem. I am just a perfectionist at heart and especially a new iron set being so expensive I want it to be right and I dont want to receive these clubs and be regretting my purchase because the feel is off which is why im trying to ask these questions. but in asking these questions it is honestly overcomplicating it a bit because swing weight is a nuanced topic and very personal it seems and there is no way to know if D5 is correct in the whole set of irons until I get them which if its not.... adding lead tape is easy but if its not the right swing weight because its too heavy than like you said that's kind of a PITA. you are very knowledgeable and I appreciate your responses. still unsure of where to go from here to be honest
