Philadelphia Golf Show/North Coast Golf Shows

Hi everyone,

Has anyone been to a golf show run by North Coast Golf shows? Worth attending? Any chance I will find great putters ie Bettinardis or Machine that are not in stores nearby?

There has been North Coast golf show run event coming to the greater Pittsburgh / West Pa area for 15 plus years ... you may get lucky and find 1 seller that might have what you ask for but otherwise no ... if you want older clubs , close outs ,some sellers may have 2013-14 clubs but they may not also ... I can not vouch for other cities shows but the sellers that have been coming to the Pittsburgh show have been dwindling , there are un-golf related sellers , those pushing trips/vacations , some CC selling memberships .. but overall the price seems to be increasing and those actually selling have been becoming less visable

I don't think you'll find what you're looking for. It's really a bunch of local, private clubs that will be giving out some trial rounds to get you to join, and some other local vendors/instructors. It's not really a demo show for specialty items. You should be able to try out most of the 2014 new offerings, but that's about it.

I normally attend the Philly golf show, but this year got the itch early and went to the New Jersey Golf show, same people run it, just held a few weeks earlier. From what was there, you won't find any Bettinardi's or Machine Putters. Most of the club vendors will have older used clubs (maybe 1-3 seasons old), as well as a few mark downs on this years gear, like a JetSpeed driver for 20 bucks less than retail or something.

Rockbottom golf will be there with pretty much their website laid out for you to actually see.

There are also a few smaller/local shops and pro shops that will have their prior year stock ready to be unloaded. From what i saw a few had good deals on X-hot's and RBZ stage 2 woods.

I may end up going to the Philly show as well, because I'm a sick person who refuses to seek treatment.

It is nice to look for some equipment from last season and some newer things. You will find a diamond in the rough occasionally. Got a Proquip coat for 20 bucks, worth like 170. It is good for trip material also. The clothing is usually priced reasonably also at these events. For the cost of admission and a free golf magazine subscription it is worth it.

I take my Wife and kids with me and make a day of it.

I went to the Washington show last weekend, no Bettis or Machines and honestly I didn't see many Scotty's other than one or two places that had some of last years selects.

In my opinion there were a lot less golf club sellers there this year and a lot more trip/membership/health gimmick booths. For the price of admission the subscription to Golf magazine is worth it, but it has definitely become less impressive to me over the last few years. Although if you are in the market for Taylormade woods from the last 2 years, you will be in heaven. Almost every place that sells clubs had bags overflowing with TM headcovers.

so true. They probably had it in DC as well, But this year they had an Organic Lifestyle Company cooking organic steak, the entire section smelled like a cook-out. Pretty fantastic sales tactic.

and yeah, you couldn't fall down without bumping your a$$ on a TM club at most places.

I really didn't find it worth the hour drive I took to get there a few years ago. I hope they have improved it because it was pretty bad. Maybe I'm saying that since I went to the show in Orlando a few weeks ago! There will be a long wait for the hitting bays, so make sure you get mentally prepared if you want to hit some of the new stuff.

This will be the first time in 5 years I'm not going. 2 years in a row of going up there and buying absolutely nothing and seeing nothing I haven't seen before.

The sickest thing to me about that show is that EVERY year I go there it snows either that day or that week/weekend. I always went on Sundays. It's gonna snow on Saturday night/Sunday.

I only go for the free golf mag subscription. Other than that, it's a complete waste of time. More and more people trying to sell timeshares and shoe inserts than actual golf clubs.

There was a guy selling storm windows this year, a guy selling pots and pans and a bathfitter guy selling those new tubs. In addition there were at least 4 booths selling various magnetic jewelry of some crappy kind or another. I'd say between a third and a half of the space was resorts and timeshare sales places. There were at least two huge booths selling knockoff clubs and bottom of the barrel clothing brands, I mean stuff you have never even heard of. And this year they were up to three vendors selling wooden carved putters.

There is zero chance you are going to find a Machine there and maybe a 1% chance of something like a good Betti being there. And maybe that 1 is actually closer to zero.

That being said if you know what you are going for and arent afraid to shop around, you can get some good deals. I stocked up on Duos at $10 a dozen and picked up a handful of other things to start the year off with. I always go because its a cool way to spend a few hours and its worth it for the Golf subscription.

I was kinda shocked, there was a guy there that was selling some Fourteen wedges, RM12 iirc. I'm not "up" on them, so not sure how prices were but was kinda nice to see those.
Otherwise, same old stuff.

I want to go night golfing at limerick golf club but only if the two in the tall socks are there. Other than that it was a waste of time.
