Love some of the replies on here! :drinks:

I think one of the most surprising things on here, which to me is the most important, is how good some of the information and members are on here. If you give honest feedback and are honest with yourself about your abilities, members on here can "fit" you (in my experience) almost as well with better information and more options than a fitting at your local "super store" and damn near just as good as a "tour" fitting, again in my experience.

There are so many backhanded 300 yard drive comments and backhanded canned terms that have developed here, but for many guys who actually fit that label, this was literally the only place that segment of golfers could find actual information from other similar golfers. For me, it wasn't about how far you hit it, believe me, I got flamed to death when I first came here for distance claims etc.. but I didn't care about having a "my schwartz is bigger than your schwartz" contest, I cared about getting help and input from members that cared to help me. Over the years, I have tried my best to do the same for others, despite the negativity, as I have been helped by many on here in the past.

I am also surprised at how many people I meet that read this forum. Another canned response has been how small of a percentage GolfWRX is and how GolfWRX in no way shape or form represent the golfing population.. BUT, a TON of golfers I play with or meet in tournaments, matches, or just playing around in my area know and read about GolfWRX. Now that I think about it, I meet more people that read GolfWRX than I do actual members of GolfWRX. I was also surprised at how many OEM employees, including VP level, that read this forum daily. I think we underestimate the reach this place actually has.

I was also surprised about some recent news, and I think that many of us take the opportunities GolfWRX has provided for granted, and can't believe some of the things I have seen recently with actions of "valued" members who have benefited so much.

We've done a few of these threads over the years, what surprises me is the number of negative posts we get in threads like this. If this place is so bad why don't you go post somewhere else?

Yes, i have an IQ over 5 so i understand the point you are making. But i'm not telling people to go away, i'm asking why every time we do a "things i've learned on golfwrx" type thread, the responses are usually 50% negative. If your feelings of the site are mostly negative, or you feel it's full of liars and judgemental people, why spend the time posting? Unless you yourself are here trolling (i don't mean you, i mean complainers)

It's an outlet for me to vent after seeing 10,000 posts on some mid capper trying to convince himself he made the right decision to hit blades or the other side, you have no business hitting blades because blah, blah, blah ... This is an awesome site that (IMHO only) gets a bit stale at times based on the same topics beig posted over and over and over(Like others have commented).

There is such a thing as pro paintball?

Ps love the spaniels avatar ! I have a tri-colour myself
I don't mean to get off topic here but I don't want to be rude and not respond either.

Back in my day you could say we pioneered the game. The National Amateur was held in Pittsburgh Pa. Teams for all over the world played there for the event. On the pro level the National Championship were held in Nashville,Tenn. There was a tournament circuit involved as well. If you see the paintball on ESPN I would assume those are the pro guys of today. They always wanted a way to bring it to tv. In my day we played in the woods, it was hard to bring it to tv. We received very little money except for the people that were able to make a name for themselves and join up with the heavy sponsors. Most of what I won covered my expenses but you were considered pro if you received money. Some tournaments would try and get around the money part and you being considered pro by offering you prizes instead. The Amateur was very popular and you were not allowed to play in it if you were considered pro. With the introduction of speed ball it made it more possible for television exposure and with it better prize money in todays game. I've been out of it a long time now so I am talking about many years ago.

Thank you about my avatar...... my girls are Layla, Leah and Asia.

Here's what surprises me: people complain about the same topics being posted over and over, but they rarely start an innovative and thought provoking thread themselves.

A few year's back a senior colleague organized a 'b!t*h session" at work. The deal was this; you could actively participate if you followed your complaint with a solution. It was amazing how quiet the meeting was. Crickets.

Surprised at the venom that can be spewed out when someone starts a thread that has been covered previously.

GolfWrx is growing and evolving with a constant influx of new members who are fired up about golf and want to talk about golf. Is it really that big of a deal that a topic was covered 3 months or 3 years ago?

New guys want a chance to ask questions and offer input....with interaction.

If you're a veteran who beat a subject to death 3 years ago - you really don't have to comment in a new thread about the same subject. Just be happy that new members have found an outlet for their passion.

Yes, but "What are the good courses in Myrtle" gets to be a bit much. ;)

I'll bet we'd be shocked if we could see a list of the industry people and pros who've lurked this board. Tour pros especially...they're on the road in a hotel room with nothing to do. Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the biggest names have poked around on here.

Tai - you nailed it...

When I first came on the board I was surprised that there were people with the same passion for equipment and tinkering as I was - regardless of ability. Before the days of readily accessible tour equipment and shafts - you were left to search for products that no one had hit or used... It was a blind draw. We would spend our cash and report everything possible to inform other users. When you share similar swing characteristics - that shared information was invaluable. Thousands of dollars were spent and flipped - sharing as we went. WRX is still alive. There is more information available to share or learn because product is readily available.

1) the amount of $$$ people here spend on gear. I have a few friends who are club ho's , but some guys here buy in 6 months what my friends buy in 6 years. ( not that there's anything wrong with that :) )
2) the amount of REALLY good players on this forum.
3) how this forum sort of resembles my high school class, with a few jocks, some nerds, some really good athletes, some quiet guys, some comedians, some nice guys, some foreign students, some bullies, a few reprobates, a teacher's pet, a few troubled students, a guy from the debating society, actually at least two guys from the debating society and some guys that seem really driven.

Lack of Marshaling for thread derailing and clearly argumentative trolling.
Unfortunately the Marshals are not omniscient. We can not be aware of every single topic, post, discussion, member here... nor would we want to be. We rely on the membership to report topics/posts they believe to be in violation of the Rules & Terms and/or BST rules.

Please help us and the entire community mitigate the trolling, derailing of topics, ad hominem personal attacks, etc. by 1) taking the high road and not feeding the trolls or participating in petty "e-fights" and perpetuating the negative vibe; and 2) using the REPORT button to alert the Marshals of potential violations so we can address them.

Thanks.
