Guys trip down to Kansas City, MO area in March, what courses should we play?

Hello all

Me and the guys are headed down to KC Missouri in late march to get out of the Minnesota cold and scratch that golf itch. We are looking for a few good courses to play in that area that are reasonably priced but still decent and fun even though it will still be during the off season.

We will play 5 rounds over 4 days and we were looking to play shoal creek, cardinal hill, and maybe dubs dread. Any advice on these courses or any suggestions on any other great courses in the area?

Shoal and Dub's are both great. Cardinal reminds me a lot of a muni even though it technically isn't. I wouldn't choose to play there on a trip to be honest. But it will be okay for a cheap round. Check GolfNow as a lot of nice KC courses are on there. Here are the courses is recommend in the area that are on there:

Tiffany Greens
Stone Canyon (top 3 course in Missouri according to Golf Mag)
WinterStone
Falcon Ridge
Iron horse
Deer Creek

Definitely look for the Hot Deals on GN. You may not be able to book way in advance though.

Alvamar in Lawrence is KU's practice course and that is really fun to play. It's a little bit of a drive but I think it's worth it. Otherwise Deer Creek and Stone Canyon are two of my favorites. I'm originally from Lawrence but now am living in Duluth, Minnesota and can't stand the weather up here! Me and my buddies are driving all the way down to OKC in a couple of days to beat the cold and relieve the golf itch. Hope you have a fun trip!

Stone Canyon is good, hopefully the fairways start to come in after the winter.

I am a member at Shoal Creek so I will definitely recommend my home track.

Falcon LAKES is also a nice track.

How do these courses play in the spring? Or just coming out of winter? Still pretty nice?

I just played Shoal Creek today and it played very good. If the weather stays warm the Zoysia fairways should start getting green by the time you make it down this way maybe.

If you're coming in late March you might call around to check the schedule for aerating greens. Pretty sure my home track (Tiffany Greens) is doing it the 24th and 25th so it won't be in prime condition for a couple of weeks after that.
