Oakley Glasses

Just looking on some advice for a decent pair of all round use Oakley glasses to wear for golf. I'm not needing shades as such as I live in dreary old Scotland where the sun hardly ever shines. I'm looking for a pair that will be ideal for duller conditions and not hinder my reading of the greens.

 

The reason I've decided to try a pair of glasses is my eyes water and stream a lot, all it takes is a slight breeze and my eyes start to water. Thought giving them a wee bit of protection may stop this.

 

What would you recommend, and what lenses? I know nothing about these so all information and advice greatly appreciated. Also happy to consider other brands but I'm guessing Oakley will be the easiest to source in the UK market.

You might try the Oakley Flak Jackets with the G30 lenses. They are a high contrast lenses that work great in low light.

Think I prefer the half jackets but not really bothered if I but Flak. Just don't know anything about the lenses. Cheers

Happy to help. if you're just looking for a lenses to make things pop on overcast days then there is nothing better than the G30 for golf. find a frame you like and they should be available.

Yep the Flak or Fast Jackets (depending on fit) with a G30 and a Fire Red Iridium for a backup is a great go-to start with Oakley.

Nice thing with Flak Jackets and Half Jackets is you can switch out lenses. If wind is the main issue, you could go with the G30 lens for semi-bright days, then switch out to a clear lens for days when wind is an issue but it's to dark for any tint.

The G30 for sure with your weather conditions. I have the Flack Jacket xlj and the Radar Pitch, The Radars have a better wrap around lens with vents a the top. Both are polarized G30's. Can't go wrong with these lens.

I have the g30 poloarized for playing golf (flak jackets) and they are the best golf lens I've ever worn - in any conditions.

G30, non-polarized for me. best lens hands down in all sunlight or no sunlight.

I wear Fast Jacket XL's with polarized lenses...never had a problem in any conditions. Best golf glasses out there IMO...

Just got my radarlock's with g30 lenses in my prescription. They are pretty sharp and highly effective!!!

So if I'm correct the G30 lens is a must for golf plus another like a red?

Are all G30 lenses the same colour or shade??? Excuse the ignorance!

No worries! Yes all G30 are the same. The polarized are slightly different. I don't see a need for another lenses for golf though. I've got sensitive eyes and wear them (with a hat) in all conditions with no trouble.

since you say it's hardly sunny, i'd shy away from any dark tint lens like the +red, black iridium. the G30 will be perfect. here's a good reference guide on Oakley lens tint. I would always go with a xl lens. You don't want to have to look through the lens edge when looking down at address. I play the fast jackets xl (g30 non pol and fire iridium) great combo. I assume our weather is quite similar (a bot more rain for you guys).

Just look through this thread and you'll probably find most if your questions answered. No sense in duplicating the same conversation over and over. Half jackets work nicely. I have worn them for years after i used m-frames for years.
