Forgiveness of 714 AP2 vs. AP1

I currently play a set of 710 AP1's and overall like them a lot but am ready for a new set of irons and am looking for something that is a bit smaller at address. However, as an 11 handicap I still need a bit of forgiveness. I thought I was going to go with the Miura PP-9003 but just didn't hit them well when I took them to the course (hit them great on the trackman). I've decided to upgrade to either the 714 AP2 or the 714 AP1 with a preference for the AP2. I've read reports that there is no longer much difference in the AP2 and AP1 as far as forgivness goes but could anybody share their experiences if you have tested both of them out.

The Ap2's are a really solid club. I play blades and this are making me one to get a set. A buddy has them so I hit them a bit and really like them. They are fairly forgiving. The AP1's are another solid stick and honestly the size is almost the same club to club. Also if you go back to your AP1's you will save a few hundred bucks as they are MUCH cheaper.

Try the AP1 714's, they've made the AP1 714's smaller, I couldn't stand the size of the 712's but the 714's are compact, I almost bought a set!

The 714 AP1s to me still looked a bit clunky. The AP2s felt incredible and were plenty forgiving. i'll be getting a set soon. I probably should play the AP1s, but they just didn't do it for me, AP2 all the way.

I went from the 712 ap2's to the 714 ap1's and couldn't be happier... For me,The long irons in the ap1 714's are so much easier to hit than the ap2's.. Why not make the game easier and go with a more forgiving iron??

AP1's definitely are more forgiving, but the AP2's are an extremely easy club to hit in my opinion. I would say try both, you can't go wrong with either...

So I am a 14 handicap, but I hit my irons pretty well, if I could get off the tee box consistently, I would probably be an 11. That being said, I have
narrowed myself down to AP2 set with an AP1 5 iron, or the I25s from ping. I will hit both on Saturday off of grass with some sore of monitor as well.
Looking forward to it.

I initally thought the AP2 would be too much club for me, but after several range sessions, I have realized that I hit it well with a lighter
shaft....

The Ap1 is as good or better than AP2. It's chunkier,but lots more forgiving and solid feeling. If I was going forged, I would go the MP-54 route. I thought they felt so much better than AP 2's and are equally as forgiving. You cannot beat a Mizuno forging.

Thanks, as I did for the Miura I'll probably get one club set up to my specs to play around with on the range before committing to buy. Hopefully the AP2s work out better for me.

I have moved from 714-ap1 to 714-ap2, if you are about 15 cap.. shouldn't be problems..

Did you lose any distance going from the AP1 to AP2?

So I was all set to get the AP2 today at my fitting....And I had a bad swing day...Was fighting the AP2...Was not getting normal distances today. Ended up going with the I25, it was just more forgiving....Reminded me that not all days are good swing days, and forgiveness is my friend....Thought about the AP1s, but in the end, preferred the I25s looks to the AP1.
