David Feherty

Is it just me or does anybody else agree that this guy is NOT funny at all. He reminds me of a clown. He tries too hard to be funny. I don't think I've ever found anything about his act funny.

Is it just me or does anybody else agree that Rams fans have no sense of humor at all. They remind me of sad clowns. They try too hard to be accepted. I don't think I've ever found anything about their posts worthy.

His humor is dry. I didnt care for him at first but his act has grown on me as time goes by. You either get his act or you dont, heck I like Newhart so there ya go.

I can handle his humor in small-medium doses. I like his quickness, but hate his slapstick.

His slapstick and somewhat lengthy, over-done intros to questions can sometimes be annoying but overall he does great interviews and is always able (perhaps because of his style) to get insights and answers - which I like.

I tune in more to hear what his guest has to say than what he has to say.

So true, he is like a comedian that you see on youtube and then finally watch in person. You sorta get their shtick and find them kinda annoying more than funny. Give him credit though because some of the people he interviews, he has to liven things up. Some of the golfers either have sticks up their yoohoo's or never cracked a smile in their lives.

I'm not the biggest fan of his humor, but love his interviews, and I kind of realize you have have to put up with it. Who else is interviewing golfers and talking about golf topics like he is?

Sometimes I think he tries too hard....especially on his show. I like his commentary on the golf course. I think that is where his quick wit is best demonstrated. I have also been impressed with his interview skills. I enjoy watching his show overall.

I like him and his interviews, I am not a fan of the rooster thing though. I like his sarcasm, he's pretty funny.

As far as his show goes, I feel he's gotten a lot better as the seasons go on. His first season was good, but he tried a little too hard (the little stand-up routines were horrible). I think his humor comes in handy when he's trying to make the interview subjects seem comfortable, but when it gets serious, he tones it down. At the same time, I think some of his best interviews were from the guys that are his closer friends (Darren Clarke, McCord, etc). I'm pretty sure he's interviewing Sam Torrance this season (one of his best friends) so that should be entertaining

Feherty is like a bowl of mixed nuts. There are some cashews in there, and I enjoy those. I am not going to lie and say that I do not pick out the cashews. The key is to spot the cashew, put the hand in motion, look up as you grab the cashew so it looks like you just randomly got another cashew.

That's kinda how I handle Feherty. I'll listen to the cashews and simply put up with the rest of the nuts.

He is a great golf interviewer. He'd make Furyk seem conversational. I think Jim is limited to about 5 words a day.

I don't like the chicken though.

Nah, his all time best was that VJ Singh has hit more balls than Elton John's chin. That is some serious stuff that only pops up in fried brains.

He is not funny...but very amusing. Seinfeld was never gut busting funny....but he was amusing. His schtick is worth a smile and the occasional chuckle. Witty guy and quick on his feet for sure...just not laugh out loud funny.

He needed the rooster as a prop and a feed-off because he knows he can't handle a lengthy comedic segment on his own. The need for that prop should have told the producers that the segments themselves were a bad idea and should have been done away with.

His interviews are impressive and have improved markedly since early in the first season. They only suffer when he forces profanity and crotch humor, which is not humor at all. You can always identify a poor writer or comedian if he defaults to an object hitting a man in the crotch. That's a duffer approach, averaging a triple bogey per hole. A terrible comedian will use that crotch desperation 125 times during his career. Feherty is probably beyond that in this series alone.

His early TV subtle lines were often fantastic. Occasionally he still summons one of them. But far too often he thinks he's supposed to be funny, instead of letting it flow naturally. His forced material connects perhaps 10%.

IMO, he's a horrid walking analyst and that aspect is somehow obscured by his reputation and his schtick. If you ignore all of that and listen to how he describes a shot requirement and ball in the air and quick summarized aftermath, it's often brutal. Worst of all is when he's covering Tiger because he apologizes for virtually everything. I still remember, "That may have been a 3-putt but it was a great 3 putt."
