Anybody here ever struck a ball with one of the JPX Fli Hi iron replacement hybrid clubs ?

The current version was introduced last year, and it is designed to be shafted at true iron length.

I have hit the new version pictured above in the store. Very nice, slightly more traditional in shape which i like. Could definitely game it. The graphite shaft plays pretty soft to flex.

I had the older version that came with jpx800hd set in the 4 & 5 fli hi. These were steel shafted and did play pretty true distance wise to what a normal 4 and 5 iron would go for me. That was my knock on them. Being a slower swinger, mid to high cap player, I don't really view the slot for those clubs as being scoring or accuracy clubs. I use the 4h especially for more what I call advancement shots. I felt like I gave up too much yardage with them. I probably lost 10-15 yds over a traditional graphite shafted slightly longer hybrid (I usually shorten all my hybrids a good inch as I am short). Also the older version kinda had that g15/20 swollen toe look. The new version looks better to me.
If I didn't get along with my Trilogy hybrids so well I'd consider the new version. Also they are nice because of the cost. Cheaper than most hybrids.

I have the 4 fli hi, and I like it. Only marginally longer than a 4i would be, but much easier to get in the air and going straight. I agree that it plays softer than flex would indicate; mine is S flex because of this.

Interesting comments about this club/concept.
I am going to try playing a Fli-Hi 6 iron loft version with a 6 iron length steel shaft. My expectation is that off hard pan, grassy lies, or slopes, the Fli Hi will produce more consistent carry distances than my 6-iron. Regarding accuracy, I understand the point that an iron may be more suited for accuracy than a Fli Hi, and am looking forward to trying the club for accuracy.
Unless I am swinging the club especially well (on a given day) ,, outside of about 165 yards, rather than target a flag stick, I usually play for the middle of the green..
Mostly what am hoping for (from a Fli-Hi type iron replacement club, is higher trajectory and less roll out. Into the green a well struck 6 or 5 iron, for me, will typically roll out 20 to30 feet. If a Fli-Hi can stop within 10 to 15 feet of its ball mark that would mean shorter length putts.

I've now swung the Fl-Hi during two separate practice range sessions. My initial observations is that even though it is shafted at 6-iron length, the relatively large head produces carry length closer to a 5 iron rather than a 6-iron. Hopefully my next couple rounds of golf will include some 6 or 5 iron distance shots, so that I may get a better sense for what type of distance and trajectory shots this unique club produces.

I tried these with steel shafts to replace the 4 and 5 irons. These are easy to get in the air but I also hit them the same distance as my irons and found them hard to hit straight.

It took me 3 rounds of golf to attain "iron like accuracy" from the JPX Fli-Hi' iron replacements. Mine have the same steel shafts as my irons.

I currently game the 800hds with the 4/5 Fli Hi's and I absolutely love them. That was the main reason I bought those irons, felt like the only time I hit my 4 iron previously was if I was under a tree or something like that. I really like the fact that the shaft length is the same as irons so it feels like you're hitting an iron not a hybrid but they have solid forgiveness. I haven't hit the newer Fli-Hi's but im sure there a great club.

I have both models of the JPX Fli Hi original with Orochi shaft and the S2 model with Proj X graphite. I played the originals for half a season and liked them, easy to make center contact. I upgraded to the S2 and the heavier Proj X shaft but never game them much of a chance. They're all on the bench right now because like erock I like to get max distance from the 3-hybrid.

I have the 3 and 4 JPX 800 versions in my travel bag alongside the JPX 800 irons. All are regular flex graphite shafts.

Observations: they are very easy to get up in the air. The shorter shafts (ie shorter than hybrids) makes accuracy better for me. Distance is less than similar loft hybrids - I hit the 3 hybrid 190-200 yards. Flex on the regular graphite is a bit whippy (when compared to the regular flex irons) but control is still easy. I would probably be better off with the stiff flex. Other thing I'd add is that it seems very easy to hit the sweet spot.

For my part, definitely easier than the equivalent iron to get up in the air and are more accurate than a hybrid (although not as long). I love the feeling of hitting the sweet pot with these, makes the shot feel effortless. As others have said, a good mid-longer par 3 club. Reasonably priced as well.
