Tour pros have to pay for very little of their equipment and/or apparel, if they pay for any at all.

In this case where Phil is wearing several different $1500 belts and $2500 shoes, I'd be curious to know the answer to this question as well.

Phil continually wears the worst shoes on tour. I'm not sure where the attraction to them comes from.

Simple answer to that. Because some people want something different. I actually think he wears the best looking shoes on tour. They're not for everyone,but that's the great part about it.

Anything that goes for the look of, or uses, alligator, snake, etc. is gaudy to me. It's trying way too hard. There's very little sense of style to them. The only thing they have going for them is price. It's also taboo in a sense that I don't agree with the skin of those animals being used for fashion because I see it as killing for the sole use of fashion. I try my best to wear as much synthetic material as possible and I do know it's a bit hypocritical wearing some cow like I do but I try to go as synthetic as possible. But most cow skins come from animals that are used for many other things than just their hide which is what snake, alligator, mink, etc. are mostly used for.

Beyond the source of the skin, when I see Phil's shoes I don't see any sense of style beyond cost/exclusivity. I'm more of a classic style guy. I REALLY dislike patterns. I like flat. The shoes in your avatar would be awesome to me without the pattern. Two tone it with a nice gray if you want some breakup.

phil's attire may not appeal to some of us here but there is no doubt that his pants, shoes,and belts are made of very fine materials and ARE expensive..

..can't say the same about his Callaway shirts now but his previous Hugo Boss shirts were certainly also just as classy..

..his color choices are kinda boring though..

I have some funky coloured MyJoy icons and at every course I go to I get multiple positive comments on them

I actually prefer mine over Phil's as I like to mix in white to break up the tortoise and gator / croc patterns.

Phil's are cool though and props to him to go with a classy and different look than everyone else. My guess is he has 20 colours of these shoes in the works right now and if I had to guess he is paying for the shoes but not the belts

I just noticed the irony that these shoes are on my cow ottoman in the man cave

[/quote]That's cool that it's a personal deal with you. Would you have any problems with the use of animal skins if they were only from animals that died from natural causes? I actually like the use of patterns on my Icons to give them a little more panache. And while they are just cowhide prints, they give a good representation of lizard, croc, gator, snake, ostrich, and sting ray, all at a reasonable price. Lots of choices for everyone, whether it be just colors or colors and prints. Cheers!

Most of the skins would come from an alligator farm where they are eaten for food and the skins then used as a very expensive byproduct.

Those pants are not well tailored. I don't understand that with Phil. It's not like he's wearing pants of the rack. To my eye, his pants are usually too long and baggy.

Very nice looking accessories worn by PM, too pricey for me to even consider. Sadly, though, I think many golfers are more pleased with superficial things then the quality of their game. White belts, cargo shorts, PM's belt/shoes, hats, etc. Forget taking a lesson or learning etiquette, as long as I look the part, i'm cool !
