AD DI 6 Desiginated Flex Tolerances

I received my I25 driver with an AD DI6 stiff from Ping. I already have two of these shafts in Cally driver heads and they perform perfect for me. When I tried the I25 with this shaft, the flex was noticeably stiffer and subsequent performance verified it. If I really swing out of my shoes I can get some kick out of this shaft but not like the other two AD DI6 stiffs in my other drivers. Needless to say I am disappointed. The I25 is shafted at 45.25 and the other two drivers are shafted at 45.50.

Does anyone have an idea of what's happening here? I returned the driver to Ping and they say it freqs at 6.0 and is within tolerance. Does within tolerance mean that it could be a "hair" below XS?

Any opinions/experiences and or other insights on this issue would be appreciated.

TMBob is spot on. See if the manufacturer's standards for tipping are the same. I saw one thread where his Matrix RUL from TM was standard tipped at an inch. Double check and double back.

I asked a Ping CS rep and they said they would not tip the shaft. I did try to align the rings from the butt end and if anything the rings appeared 1/2 inch closer to the butt end on the Ping,,which should mean the Ping would be a little softer,,correct? I am confused but believe I may have received a shaft on the upper end of the stiff tolerance. Ping told me yesterday the driver measured at 6.0 ,,but that could mean anywhere from 256 to 264 cpm. If I'm wrong on this could someone help here?

If you can, pull the heads, weigh the heads,and then account for the tip,and see if maybe your other drivers heads weigh slightly more, allowing the shaft to flex more during the swing. Not all that crazy to believe you got a stiff that is on the stouter side.

I don't do my own club work,,would like to but I have less than 0 mechanical talent. I never considered head weight but you could be right on. Does anyone know the difference in head weight between a Cally Razr Fit and the I 25?

The Cally is very definitely one heavy head, haven't owned an i25 yet. Having both swingweighted would start give an idea, confirmed overall playing lengths would be good too tho the shaft lengths in both should cover me for that.

Take both shafts out and measure complete length of both. After that measure from the [b]tip[/b] end to the very start of the first ring on both. There's a bit of difference between how much length the two different adaptors add but i will have that accounted for. Post back sometime after that.

The I25 is now at Ping and will speak to them on Monday. As stated, I don' do my own club repair so I won't be pulling shafts. If I can't resolve the situation with Ping's help I will just sell it and consider my loss a paid lesson.

So the RAZR and i25 shafts don't just screw out?

That teeny bit of info was going to give me enough to confirm possible tipping differences et al for you. Never mind.

The two drivers have different BBGM's for a start.

G430 10K 9* VF-7s

Yes they come out with a torque wrench, but the adapters are different. Sorry for my brain cramp. I will pull and measure later today and report what I can measure between the two shafts. My other DI6 is glued in to a RazrHawk.
