What putter did you just buy ?

Been thinking about being left eye dominant and how a center shafted putter should work for me.  Went to try one, thinking of a Ping or Odyssey, ended up with a Spider GTX CS.   This thing is very stable.  I've struggled with distance control with other Spiders, but I was almost perfect distance wise the past few rounds.TM23PTR_TC814_N7511826_Spider_GTX_Dune_Silver_CS_ADR_v1__70366.jpg.283d09f2ba7dcae742643dc903e2ded8.jpg

Have you ever actually hit one, or do you actually think its the cure-all putter golf has been looking for the last 600 years?

Just got my LAB Link.1 with Accra shaft & now trying to unlearn all my prior putting habits. Pretty sure my most recent putter (Ping PLD Oslo 4) knew something was up since I don’t ever recall sinking so many one-putts as in my last round with it.

Putters know when they're on the way out ... They always know.

Drivers do, too ... They just don't care.

I just blind bought a Like New Odyssey Eleven S with no alignment lines. The price was too good to pass up and I've always wanted to try a Stroke Lab putter. My putters have always been heavy+counterweighted with similar specs to what the stock is so it should feel pretty familiar.

Very interested in the forward CG as I've had trouble squaring up mallets with my preferred toe hang/offset.

This guy earned a spot in the bag. I actually did not realize that Odyssey measured length from the center of face so my 33" putter felt far too short for my liking. Fortunately my local shop had some KBS putter shafts in stock. I re-shafted (not a huge fan of the stroke lab shaft) with the CT Tour, Pure grip,  and a fresh counterweight of my own to match the PXG I've been gaming since 2020. For those who dislike the softness of the White Hot, swapping the shaft out for something much firmer and using a firmer ball makes a huge difference.

I played 36 holes over the last two days and this thing really shined in the 0-10' range. The "blank" head still allows for you to use the seam of the putter head as an alignment aid, and the thing sits dead square on grass. Minimal offset and the forward CG stuff seems to be as-advertised. I never felt like I was fighting to square the head up.

Speed control on really long putts will take more time to adjust to. The club got a ton of rain recently so the greens were way slower than normal. My "big miss" with the PXG Closer was leaving a long lag putt way short, and I didn't have that happen to me with the Odyssey.

Most recent purchase was a MySpider GT from BST.  Loved it cause it was all black with a sight dot.  Havent putted it with yet but will today.

Also picked up some old rinky dink Odyssey White Hot 2 ball...not sure which one but I think the original one for 40 bucks at a local driving range.  Definitely not for me as I have a stroke and need toe hang, but you never know.  As long as I can drain putts with it, that's all that matters.

Definitely looking to pick up one that will stay in the bag for a long time if these 2 dont work.

I did a Trackman fitting and was fit into the DS72. I played one round and immediately knew it wasn’t right. Felt like I was fighting it the whole day.

I returned it and just got what I wanted. Shot 2 under in its first round, then installed the LAGP shaft I already had.

So, it's not the Versa model, it's just the Jailbird head shape and I got a really good deal on it on Callaway pre-owned. There also may have been a substance or two influencing my decision making

Purchased back on April 3 a Bettinardi Inovai spud neck.

Has the tiny amount of toe hang that suits me best at 8*

As well as the roll control face for a better roll (they claim) that I also need (was suggested by TXG at a putter fitting.

Still hasn't arrived. Over 3 months... :(

I made a very impactful un-purchase of a putter recently.

For years I mostly used face-balance mallets because I thought they suited my stroke. But I prefer putting with one of my old Ansers. So a year or two ago I started favoring the Anser and just pulling out the #7 style mallet for a week or two whenever I seemed to be in a putting slump.

I finally got rid of the #7 and went cold turkey. Nothing but plumbers neck, plain face Ansers with the skinny Pingman grip for me. Today I went back and reviewed my Strokes Gained stats. Since going 100% Anser and just sticking with it no matter what my Strokes Gained: Putting has improved by 2.8 strokes over the past 50+ rounds. My average over the last few weeks is by far the extended putting spell of my life.

Who knew getting rid of a putter could help my game more than buying one?

And the sweet part is, all three of my classic Anser putters together cost way less than that one mallet did a couple years ago.

I think switching to different putters every couple weeks, when one is in a slump, is detrimental to consistency. It appears that you are at least one data point to back that up.

Given how much putting greens vary from day to day, not to mention from course to course, it is kind of crazy to go changing putters at random too. Touch and feel aren't the most important thing in putting, they are everything. I was just keeping myself off balance with a handful or rounds using a totally different several times a year.

Now if I could just cure myself of the even worse habit of switching types of golf ball every few weeks or months. I always end up back playing Pro V1x in the end and voila, my full swing distance control and ability to judge short game shots improves once I settle back in to the old favorite for a while.

And to think, they say this game is mostly mental...

Lol, you bring up great points! Golfers would be institutionalized if we were like this about anything other than our hobby.

And it's no wonder some of the people who do this for a living on TV come across as bordering on nuts.
