Add weight to head to make shaft play less stiff?

I have been playing G20 woods and a recent fitting suggested I should be playing pwr75 stiff shaft instead of stock TOUR stiff shaft I am currently playing. Would adding lead tape to the head make my tour stiffs launch a bit higher and play more like a stiff?

Not sure how much difference there would be but shortening the shaft a little then adding some weight would soften it a little.

Or you could just buy a pull...PING stock shafts are usually fairly cheap, especially without adapters (and since you have a G20, no need!). Here's one I found. Plus the tip is .350, perfect for your G20! the extra head weight caused by the lead tape would have more of an effect on the feel of the golf club than on trajectory ( 1pt = 1 cpm). It would take a very flexable tip section and a late release to get the shaft to flex forward enough to increase the dynamic loft and increase traj.

If you want to hit the ball higher, the club specs to change include at least a 2° increase in loft, a CG lower and further back in the face of woods and a more flexable shaft at least 10mph lower than your RSSR.

If a shaft is definitely too stiff you never increase the swingweight as the way to alleviate that too stiff problem. You change to a shaft that better fits you. Swingweight changes are done to match to a golfer's transition force, downswing tempo and his overall perception/preferences for the feeling at the end of the shaft when he makes the downswing. To add headweight to try to soften up a shaft, by the time you get enough weight in the head to actually bring about the feeling of the shaft not being as stiff, you run a risk of making the headweight feel too heavy and thus messing up your swing tempo, timing, rhythm, consistency, repeatability.

Thanks Tom! I actually play better w heavier clubs which is why I entertained the idea. How much weight would you add to significantly affect flex? Wouln't mind a 2 point increase in sw (d1 to d3).
