Have not been but planning on going out there with some buddies. Looks like an ok experience. Kind of like cosmic bowling of golf.

If you go let me know. Definitely looks like something to do with a group vs just solo practice

Gilbert location is open sometime in December.

Checked out top golf on Saturday night with some friends. Fun atmosphere, good drinks and the food looked appetizing. Not ideal place you would go to practice. The targets range from 50 yards to 215 yards. You receive points the closer you hit to the pin, the balls have a microchip inside of them to track this.

You can pay per hour or buy a monthly membership. Would return again.

How is it not an ideal to practice? You have target to aim for that are not just flags, as well as you get your exact yards that your ball were hit (if you hit the target). Now you are hitting off mats like a lot places so I can see that being a problem for the grass lovers but for me, it is a great place to shag balls, eat good food, and drink some beer.

Its 20-40 bucks an hour so its expensive, and the mats are trampolines, designed for hackers, near impossible to tell if youre hitting shots fat or getting through the ball, which I think will be the biggest issue most WRXers have.

It's a fun place to go with buddies or screw around with short game, but its certainly not a place to work on your mechanics

I know it is an overpriced driving range but they offer unlimited balls from in the morning till some time at the one in VA.

For the bold part, Im a regualr Joe golfer, so it is a great place to aim at targets and figure out if Im hitting my irons a certain distance. However, I bring my GI irons and my cart bag when Im at Top Golf.... when Im on the course I whip out my BLADES and Staff bag...I just don't want to be giving people lessons when Im working on my mechanics and drinking beer. :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

My buddies just walked in from visiting topgolf. Said it was pretty cool (not temp wise obviously) but sent back their steak sandwiches twice and they still couldn't get it right. They understood that its day one so give them some time. Kind of like golf mixed in a bowling atmosphere. I believe they said $35/hour for the space. Then food. They also pick u up in the parking lot.

Side note they said Hank Haney was right next to them as well. Not sure if it was him but they said looed just like him and was covered in Taylor Made stuff. Who knows. Can't wait to check the place out.

Went to Top Golf last weeknd. It was absolutely jam packed. There was a 2 hour wait to get a hitting bay. Ended up eating at the bar and hanging out for about an hour before taking off. Wasn't prepared for the wait but enjoyed the luxury cosmic bowling feel. Definitely going to return.

Went earlier this afternoon and they would only let you hit irons. No hybrids or above. Apparenty people have been hitting balls over the netting from the top deck and hitting cars parked in the Talking Sticks parking lot. If you bring your own clubs, which I recommend since their clubs are a joke, then they will give only give you a bottom level hitting bay.

I forsaw exactly this when driving by during construction. Why make the net so short and area so shallow? Very poor planning.

I really hope this takes off. Anything to attract people to the game is a good initiative.

I will definitely be hitting up the Gilbert location when it opens.

Don't see how this is a business that's going to be making money 3 years from now at two locations....I just don't get it with real driving ranges at real courses all over the place...
[/quote]

Not about "real golf" if we could use that term. It is the equivalent of Cosmic Bowling or the "Lucky Strike" model in relation to "real" bowling competition. Totally separate.

And good on 'em, not for me like I said but I hope they do well. It is in a prime location and the SRPMIC is doing really well with their development of that corridor. I'm sure both locations will do fine.

As for bringing people to the "real game," eh....probably not. Don't think it has had that effect in Dallas and they've been there the longest, unless I'm mistaken.

Both of my nieces were introduced to golf via Top Golf in Dallas. Sister-in-Law has had a membership there for a while. Both my nieces are now participating in Jr. golf events now.
