Took advantage of the deal on Tour Edge’s certified pre-owned gear right now…got a C721 driver with a Project X HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX shaft for $120 USD.

It has been a very highly ranked driver by sources like 2nd swing and TXG in the last year, noted for its low-spin / high forgiveness combo. Figure I’d take a shot on it at that price!

I have been using a 2021 PXG 0211 (with a Smoke Black RDX shaft) over the last year so I’m curious to see how they compare. Anyone try both and have a comparison?

Based on some forum members, I heard the short slants (Rory's Putter) are not available in the US marketplace for some odd reason

Does the shaft make a difference in performance? I heard people speaking on the black shaft and/or stepless shaft

Allegedly, but you also paid for a ct tour shaft and it doesn't come with one. I found the lack of response from Taylormade, more frustrating than anything. basically you get what you get

Srixon ZX7 MkII Driver w/ Hzrdus Smoke Black shaft.

Not the greatest of photos!

I’m a very high handicapper and I have no business playing a low-spin head but this was a steal (USD $325) for a new-gen driver.

I’m definitely not good enough to offer insight but can say with initial impressions that the look at address is lovely, the head is smaller in appearance than my current gamer, the hzrdus smoke shaft feels lighter than my tensei white (fractionally), and it feels like a lighter head than my current gamer.

I’ll change the grip when I get the chance. I’m curious how this will go with a Hzrdus Blue shaft in it.

edit: I added the face in for a laugh, I’m getting what I’m paying for! Haha!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this shaft... and if you had any previous experience with the OG ventus

Sure, I'll preface this by saying that I'm a high-handicapper so, take my experience with this as you will.

Prior to yesterday, I've not tried the Ventus line at all (normal or TR). I had been using a Tensei White AV 65 S in a Cobra SZ Xtreme head. I originally went to get another driver fitted with a new shaft (Srixon ZX7 MkII) but the Fitter recommended I go back to my Cobra and sell the ZX7ii.

So, yesterday's fitting, I tried all of the Ventus line and the Ventus TR Red & Blue, but not TR Black.

I averaged a 101 mph swing speed, with an in-to-out pattern, an aggressive swing tempo, and 5-6 degrees up AoA. The commentary from the fitter was that with hitting that high up of an AoA - I'm going to spin the ball more. So, we tried the following:

1. Ventus Red 6-X - very stiff and stout in the handle - did okay, but the lack of tip stability didn't work for me. Felt nice though.

2. Ventus Blue 6-S - better and improved, though, a little softer in the handle but better contact

3. Ventus Red TR 6-S - did not go well, was swapped out after 3 or 4 swings

4. Ventus  Blue TR 6-S - felt easy to swing for me and I felt I could go after it without throwing everything at it - felt I could swing at 90% and be reliable. Most at ease and natural.

5. Ventus Black 6-S - very stout through out the whole shaft the moment I picked it up - I felt more at home in this shaft due to the Hzrdus Smoke Black and the Tensei White AV that I was used to swinging. I got my best ball speed (fractionally) but I had to swing harder and throw everything I had into it to get there. In the end, even with better Swing Speed and Ball Speed, it didn't go as far as Blue TR and it spun more.

The following summarises my spin and distance averages from memory (I didn't get a copy of the GC Quad measurements):

1. Ventus Red TR - 2,900 RPM - 210m (231yds) carry give or take

2. Ventus Black - 3,400 RPM - 215m (238 yds) carry give or take

3. Ventus Blue TR - 2400 RPM (w/ 258 RPM spin deviation) and avg carry of 235m (257 yds) carry

The Ventus Blue TR also helped my dispersion and consistency. The Tensei White would be like a light switch - when it's on - I get great results, then when it's off, it's horrible. So, yesterday was about finding something confident that I could step up to the tee and get away with.

To summarise, the Blue TR takes the best of the aggressive low spin low launch shaft but gives me help to get the ball out there more consistent and further.

I hope this helps, again - I'm not the best to rely upon in this case due to my inconsistencies as a player.

No problem! Just got back from the range after yesterday and it just feels right. To me, it’s a more forgiving and less stout Ventus Black.
