Shorter players: 5'8" or smaller - what lie angle on your irons?

I am about 5'8" and play 1 degree flat per Ping's recommendation. What lie angle do you play and why? I was told that shorter players are supposed to play irons with flatter lie angle. Just curious if there are shorter players out there who are playing 1-2* upright.

I'm 5'5" and play 2* flat and -.5" from mizzy specs. I couldn't imaging playing standard lie. I hate most hybrids because they are too upright.

My fitter said that I stand up a little in the downswing, so when I get that swing fault fixed I might have to bend my irons a degree or two flat.

5'8", all depends on clubs. With vintage I play as is. Moderns 1/4 short and usually 2* flat.

height has nothing to do with lie angle.... clubfitting 101..........it's hand height from the ground..... you can be 7ft tall but still need flat lie irons

I am 5'8 and play mizunos standard lie, but last summer doing some lie board work I would've fit into Ping Green Dot. I think it was due to poor mechanics (standing up on my shots).

I'm 5'7" and I can hit off the rack clubs just fine. I should probably be a little flat, but I like them to be a little upright any ways so it works out. I like to play mine really short (prefer 37" for a 5 iron) so that helps with the lie angle too.

I thought lie angle was based on your swing... not your height.

i tend to hook the irons that are upright.

This is the correct answer, although it would be rare to see a 7' tall player in flat irons. His arms would have to be very long, lol..

5'8" and a flattish swing. Play my Adams A4 irons 2 degrees flat. I just wish I could get my woods bent flat...

I'm 5'7" and play standard length (37.5" 6 iron), 2* flat from Titleist standard lie (so 60.5* lie on my 6 iron). I've consistently fit into this length/lie since about my senior year of high school. The only difference in spec that I've had since that time has been shaft type and flex.

Thanks guys for your input... based on data collected so far (between 5'6" - 5'8"):

Sample size = 15
33.3% of players play at 0* (5/15)
13.3% of players play at -1* (2/15)

6.7% of player play at -4* (1/15)

Lie should be adjusted to swing, not height. I'm 5' 8'' and play I20 orange dot and +1/2 inch. This length just feels better to me.

I think I could go a bit flatter if I chose to..

For those who have experimented with shaft length, would 1/4" make any noticeable difference? I did not bother cutting my shafts by 0.25"... and play mine at std. length.

5'5" 2 degrees flat, standard length. I think I will ease back to 1 degree flat on my next set of irons.

5'8" and my irons are 2-3* flat depending on the manufacturer (currently ping, 2.25* flat, my TMs were 3*).

My TMs played 0.25" shorter than my current Pings and I do not notice any real difference between the two lengths.

5' 8" used to play - 1/2" and 2* flat. Bought a set of new to me irons that were standard length and lie. The upright lie bothered me more than the length. Had them bent flat, and I've never hit it better.

5'5", purple or orange dot, or 1-2* flat depending. I also prefer my wedges a little flatter than irons.

5' 8" and I'm playing a set I bent 1 degree flat from off the rack, mizuno mp-57s if that helps.
