Chris_NH
2 trips, and a third coming up in March. Nowhere near being in contention on this board, but on the east coast - I've yet to meet a single person who has been aside from my trip-mates. So I'm kind of a local champ :-)
DeNinny
Good point about proximity. 2 from east coast is good given the added flight expense. I'm from Portland so 4 isn't that impressive. I could add 1-2 more trips with money from an east coast flight! Future posters, please state your home location for some context. dpark
Any Oregonian who considers himself/herself an avid golfer and doesn't go to Bandon at least once a year is nuts. Especially with the winter rates and the ability to get there in 4 hours. I go at least once a year and have been going since 2001. Group trips either in the spring or late fall and 2-day trips over the winter if the weather looks good in the forecast. Probably 20 trips since 2001 including one trip for the Oregon Am with somewhere around 60 rounds played. Gachnar
I think I've been a dozen times with probably about 40 rounds there (some were 6+ round trips, some just day trips). It helps to live 2.5 hours from the course. I hardly ever go outside of the winter months. Cheap rates, less people, and I can decide to go down when the weather looks good. njlam
Oregon resident (Lake Oswego) here. Since the resort opened in 1999, I have made 13 trips (that I can remember), and played approximately 41 rounds (including the Sheep Ranch (2x) and the Preserve (4x)). Only played Sandpines 2x and Eugune 2x on the way down. Going often allows me to amortize the cost of excellent rain gear over a longer period of time. njlam
The Sheep Ranch is a unique experience, but not one that needs to be repeated. The first time I played it, our group of eight had a great time. We were the only group on the property, and could play all the holes in any direction, in any order. Ultimately, most groups end up playing the two holes on/near the water, from different directions. After spending an afternoon there with no caddies, we were exhausted. The second time we played there, the uniqueness was gone, and after playing a morning round of 18 at one of the resort courses, the Sheep Ranch was a bit of a grind.
