Coming from Alberta Canada I've taken 4 trips...

1st trip was March 2012- played 6 rounds (4 days)
2nd trip April 2013- played 8 rounds (5 days)
3rd trip December 2013- played 8 rounds (5 days)
4th trip November 2014 (last week)- played 6 rounds (4 days)

4 trips, 28 rounds, next trip booked in March 2015!!

Favourite courses in order:

1a. Pacific- love the uniqueness of the Back 9 with only 2 Par 4's, #11 is the best Par 3 I've ever played, #10-14 is the best stretch of holes on the property.
1b. Bandon- #4 is one of the best uses of the ocean backdrop you'll see anywhere. #16 is one of the best risk/reward par 4's in the world. Has a few more underwhelming holes than Pacific in my opinion (#2, #10, #18 come to mind)
1c. Trails- I always describe this as "the best golf course on the property" It does a masterful job using the natural landscape and is really a stunning layout. Standing alone I think this is a top 25 golf course in the country, it gets overshadowed by the other which isn't a bad thing...hidden gem. Best view of the property near #14 tee.
1d- Old Mac- I personally love it, but I've played with many people who skip it during their trip, which in my opinion is a shame. It's such a tribute to links golf and something you can't find in a lot of places outside of Great Britain. I love the course and make sure I always play it every trip.

The Preserve is the best par 3 course in the world (sorry Augusta). To be able to play with 4-8 buddies and have KPs, skins, sink huge breaking putts, get short sided in a bunker, and then putt down #13 is something you can't find anywhere else! Absolute the most fun you can have with a golf bag strapped to your back on the property...

Which brings me to the Punchbowl! What a genius idea this is!! Games that follow the 18 hole putting course often wind up with a throwback to your younger days on the putting green picking holes at random seeing how crazy you can get! I've never heard more laughs, more cheers and jeers than I have spending a few hours on the Pb. Not to mention the servers come out the green and serve you drinks... :drinks:

If you've never been I can't recommend it enough!
wholeinone thanks for the write up! If I could have an every day course it would be Trails. We split hairs about our favorite. I love them all!

I need to get on the Sheep Ranch one day.

New out of country leader in the house. 11/12/14. His name is wholeinone.

Pretty much agree with Wholinwon's rankings, but depending on the my mood I might flip Trails for Bandon on that list. For me Trails is that good.

Played the Preserve once but don't have plans to play it again.

Yes DeNinny, you do need to get out to Sheep Ranch at least once. We've spent the first day of our trip out there the last three years. A truly unique experience and I can't imagine that there's anything else like it in the world, or that it will last forever.

Really looking forward to the punch bowl on this years trip.

We just started planning for our trip in February, so just getting started with the longest four months of the year. Feb can't get here soon enough.

Trails is the best course in the PNW...it's criminally underrated especially now that C&C worked out the kinks.
Yeah it is the epitome of PNW golf. You get everything this area has to offer for golf in one single course.

I need to get out there after the makeover.

Agree, Trails is great. My personal ranking is Pacific Dunes first, then a tie between the other 3. I'm guessing my preference will change based on whichever one I played last....all four are fantastic.

Just got back from my14th trip where I played all 4 courses once (1st time playing BT in five years), the Preserve twice and the Punchbowl onice

This brings my total to 48 rounds (if you count the Sheep Ranch (2x) and the Preserve (6x) and Punchbowl (1x) since the resort opened in 1999).

Had one day of light rain (OM) and three days of 60 degrees and sunny (BD/BT/PD/TP/PB). Loved them all, and am glad BT is back in the rotation.

Just booked our third trip for the end of April, 3 nights, 5 rounds. It's an 8 hour drive for us from NorCal. So excited I may just throw up! Haven't been when the days were this long, so looking forward to time at the Punchbowl (never played), the Preserve, and general hanging out.

Heading to Bandon on Jan. 19 for 5 rounds in 3 days; this will be my 2nd trip in 2 years. I live in SC and catch a lot of grief from my golfing buddies for going to Oregon to play golf. Heck, it is like a pilgrimage for me.
If Bandon were in SC I would definitely go there less and definitely that would be a pilgrimage, but if money were no object it would be a regular visit. It's a bucket list place to play at the very least.

That is hardcore, well done and play well.
I am at that point in my anticipation that I am checking the Bandon weather 4 to 6 times a day and looking at the web cams a bunch. Hooked on Bandon!
Question palmer55, How are you shipping your clubs?

7 trips and 25 rounds. Lived in the Bay Area prior to So Cal and it was so easy with direct flight from SFO. Going back in March for 1st trip in 3 years with 12 guys and playing 6 rounds over 4 days including travel. Really looking forward to it. For those, who have played the Preserve, would you suggest playing it over trying to squeeze in 1 more round on our last day. Going to be tight to get to airport. Can't wait!!!!!!

7 trips is great for out of state. Nice!

Preserve is worth at least one round if you have not played it and you have played all the other courses already. It's such a cool par 3 course. It's perfect for a short round.

Preserve is a great way to finish a trip and definitely should be played at least once.
