Nys mid am?

Was looking earlier and I'm thinking about entering. My hc is low enough to do so now, so thought I'd give it a shot. I haven't entered anything like this before, so thought I'd see if anyone else was planning on playing.

I'm very seriously considering it myself, however, the Albany region qualifier at wolfert's roost is 9/9 which is in conflict with a nys amateur series tournament I'm registered in at the country club of Troy....I've got about 15 days to make up my mind... Then on top of the regional qualifier on 9/9, the mid am is 9/25-9/28 at teugega... Then the amateur series championship is 9/29 at oak hill... Its going to be a tough month if I decided to play the mid-am....

I played in both the USGA and NYSGA Mid Am qualifiers in the Buffalo area last year and have never played competitive golf since college and it was a blast. I played horribly (NYSGA event was in a downpour and a basically flooded course) but still enjoyed myself.

I am registered again for the NYSGA qualifier in Buffalo and hope to move on this year.

I tried to qualify for the mid-am out of Tuscarora country club in Syracuse last year... played relatively decent with the exception of 12/13/14 and missed the cut line by just a few strokes. I intend to try again this year and hopefully make it through this time.

Just moved back into the area, and I'll be at the Tuscarora qualifier this year.

ill be attempting to qualify out of ballston spa country club this year.

Usually for qualifiers NYSGA/USGA allow pratice rounds and are free to participants. At least that has been my experience the past few years.

I was shocked when I called and they said they didn't do practice rounds. Let me know if you plan to head out there, and I'd tag along (I live about 10 minutes away).

I knew they didn't or I would have suggested that. I didn't realize it was next Friday but I'll see if we can get out before then.

they allow practice rounds prior to the actual event. they have not allowed practice rounds for the qualifiers to get into the actual championship.

My experience has been it is the clubs discretion whether to allow practice rounds prior to qualifying as I have seen both instances. Last year the club hosting the Buffalo Mid Am qualifier allowed them but this year the host club is too busy to accommodate practice rounds.

Additionally all USGA qualifiers I have played in allow practice rounds.
