Hcp in Profile would make GWRX more valuable to all members

Would it not be very helpful to know the hcp of each poster? Would the comments not become more meaningful knowing where this person is in his own golf journey? Would a comment or suggestion from a 30 hcp have the same context/meaning as from a +3 hcp? Knowing the theory is one thing, knowing the practice is quite another. Just a suggestion. I see too many posters without this info.

We've had this discussion before and I tend to agree with you. Many times too much weight is placed on the words of a 30 handicap. While I don't necessarily believe you have to be a scratch player to offer advice, I do think it would be nice to have everyone's WRX handle verified by a USGA handicap or their latest swings. But as we've seen with a few people who have multiple handles, it wouldn't be difficult to forge your handicap or upload someone else's swing.

The handicap is only as honest as the person who puts it in. A 20 handicapper can claim he's a 2 handicapper. How will you know the truth?

Would be nice if there was an option to put in a GHIN and the data is pulled automatically.

Any idiot can put +6 in there though.
+6 eh? That's pretty impressive. But, you're not the lowest capper on wrx, there's a guy claiming he's a +8. lmao
Have you never seen a player with a plus handicap in that area? That is tour level talent but I can say I have played with more than a few in the +4 to +8 range. Good friend of mine on PGA Tour Canada would definitely float around there.

I do not understand why people do not use the feature. It would most definitely make things more helpful.

To be honest, I guess this would help, but I for one kinda like the way it is: you gotta weigh the information you are given, decide who you trust and figure out who is a moron and who's not. For me, most posters on this forum I won't even read just based on what I know from their previous posts. I think the cap requirement, which would inevitably lead to lying, might lull people into a false sense of security.

I like this idea in theory, but not everyone keeps and honest hcp or even has one, like me. I don't keep a legit hcp I just punch my scores into an online calculator ever so often, mid summer when I was playing lots and practicing, I was down around 9.9-10.3 according to the calculator, probably up to around 12-13 now since I've been not playing/practicing as much lately.

There's pros all over the place down here…PGA Tour, Web.com Tour, Mini Tours.

Plenty of +3, +4, +5 professional players. A +8 would be rare…that's a world class player.

Completely agree with what you are saying. But the same can be applied to it with the handicap. There are guys on here whose opinions I definately listen to. Game very similar to mine. It all boils down trust. If I trust the poster based on previous opinions, I would also trust in that he/she would post handicap correctly.

+3 would be going broke playing professional golf as would most +5s. I have multiple guys playing mini tour golf who are +8-10 at various times of the year if they kept track. I'd bet the one is closer to a +10, especially in casual rounds. Has two 59s this year with one in a tournament. Spent a week playing at Kiawah in money games with other mini tour guys had a high round of 69. There are a lot more guys in the +8 or better range than you'd think, but those guys don't actually keep handicaps usually.

Knowing how reluctant people are to take thoughts and opinions at face value I just deleted mine. If that means you're more likely to skip my posts, then you're welcome. Think of the time you'll save.

Does that mean you don't agree with the fact that top mini tour guys are +8 or better and that +3, +4, and many +5 golfers are losing far more money than they are making. A +3 MIGHT make a cut or two in an entire season on the Hooters/NGA Tour. And wouldn't come close to competitive

+3s are a dime a dozen, every d1 college team has tons of them. I play with one all the time and a mini tour player would beat his @ss so hard

+3's are not a dime a dozen in the grand scheme of things. Obviously you run in a circle of some very good golfers. Yes D1 college players are there or better but they certainly are not a dime a dozen by any means.

Open Forum! What a great concept. For those who need to feel secure in knowing what someones handicap is, start a forum that requires the posting of a handicap. This sounds like an attempt to control who posts what, by using handicaps as a "standard" of measurement and that just doesn't seem right.

Enjoy WRX for what it is...

No problem. btw the mobile version doesn't display them either way so I judge people's opinions based on individual posts and their body of work. Yes it's often s waste of time.

Better yet to avoid possible problems of vanity handicaps and the deviation of scores in calculating one ,why not just require that members post the number of USGA championships he(she) has played in.
