How to draw the ball

For me, a slightly slower rate of body rotation. I am trying to "point" my chest more just in front of the ball than more at the target like I would a fade. I am not sure that actually happens exactly as I describe, but that is the thought that gets me there.

Face slightly open to target but slightly closed to path. For me...ball slightly back in stance to hit it earlier in the arc.

(1) If I really want to draw/hook, I feel like I roll my forearms more consciously.
(2) Also, since I prefer a body rotation feel, I can also feel like my hips move towards the target line more before rotating. Basically feels like I'm not rotating as quickly.

With the former, I more often then not get the desired draw/hook, but with the latter I have much more control of it. Sometimes I still over rotate though. I'm focused with working on the latter since it seems more like clockwork for me personally.

Again, these are just feels.
Why would swinging up help you draw it more?
I'm guessing that this is because it is harder to hit up if you are coming over the top / out to in. For me it is much easier to hit up if I attack the ball from the inside / in to out.

If this knowledge was all it took, than everyone wanting to hit a draw would be able to do it immediately after reading. I don't mean to be argumentative, but there is physical action associated with making path and face work together. I agree that there the act shouldn't be complicated, nor should instruction around it, but I think most people need more clarification to make it work for them.

What works for me, may not work for you....I just close my stance and swing on the same target line as if i were hitting a straight ball.

At the range, drop an alignment stick, move your back foot away from the stick, keep your upper body and club swinging on the line of the alignment stick.

<<<<not really sure why it works for me. I suspect the club is closed to path on the way through>>>>

I try to hit a straight shot, but if the hole requires a draw, basically, I'll take one less club and go at it hard making sure I completely release at the ball. I try to find a target on the line I want the ball to START and swing hard at it.

I also kind of think of a straight line coming out of the back of the ball. For a fade, I want to come in just outside that line. For a draw, I want to come in just inside that line. I don't even know if I actually do that, but it's my thought as I come into the ball.

I don't change my stance.

I really only try to play a draw with a strong left to right wind, or when the course dictates I can get away with a left miss.

YMMV.

Yes there is, and it varies for everyone. No way of knowing which will work for the OP, so give him a bit of info and he will seek out someone locally to get it right. If he reads and tries all the different suggestions he gets here, he will probably decide there is no need to try because it is either too complicated or will ruin his swing.

We all need to realize that unless we SEE someones swing, we can't really help them beyond general descriptions of the processes.
Someone posted a really funny "golf progress" thing here once. It was funnier than this, but paraphrasing. . .

1) I'm hitting fade and want more distance
2) How do I hit a draw
3) Oh, that's nice.
4) How do I stop hitting hooks
5) For the love of god how do I get back to fading the ball.

With a driver, swing up with a slightly open (to target) clubface.
I get the feel of hitting up is what you're saying, probably not actually hitting up. You're probably creating more right side bend/secondary with that feel and shallowing and sending the path more rightward.

When I really try to go up on it off the tee, I also tend to hook it bad.

Think about what a lot of people do when they try to hit up. They drop the right side which has the effect of sending the swing direction out to the right. Even if he did hit up, swing direction could still be far enough right to produce a draw as long as the face is slightly closed.

Perhaps...but since he asked us for input, I made the assumption he would prefer to work through it himself.

for a draw that starts right of target, club path has to be inside to out, along with,

clubface closed to the path

If path is outside to inside with club ace closed to path=pull hook/duck hook
