hmm, how's about everyone name their favorite driver shaft, head, grip combo...

I'll start..

shaft- Accuflex Assassin xx flex

head- Bang-o-Matic 6*

Grip- Golf Pride tour wrap full cord mid-size

also..

shaft- Accuflex Pro-LD xxx flex

head- SMT spectrum 6*

Grip- Golf Pride tour wrap full cord mid-size

Hey, idrive400yards

How do you like those vs339 shafts? can they compare to say the ultraboom shaft that you have? they are about the same torque just a little shorter right? I had a 1x vs339 shaft for regular golf, but the clubmaker i went to cut it down to standard length. :russian_roulette: I told him to just put the raw shaft in and leave it.

The reason i'm asking is because I found them cheap for $34.50ea. thats a great price if you ask me.

I love the VS339, have them in most of my drivers. To me there is no difference in feel to the shafts, and are both at 2.5 torque. I went with the VS because of the cost of the shafts and even though the VS's are only 46in raw length, they still have a 49in installed length which is what I was mostly worried about. I bought mine for $49.00, so let me know where you can get them for $39.50, ok?

Have a good friend that works at Golf Galaxy here in PA who is a driver and Fairway ho. You name the driver or FW and he probably has it. Very knowledgable about club set up and construction.

 

He set up about 4 or 5 LD stix and of the few that I took cuts with I liked:

1. SMT Nemesis 6* on a Purple Ice xxx

2. SMT455 6* on a Victor Schwam339 3x

3. Cobra 427 6* AFlex Assasin xxx

But, now that I have my new components in, I'll be putting together stick number 2:

 

Cobra X-speed 7.5* w/JLG Ultra Boom XXX

 

Can't wait to test the new one out.

I think you will love the Cobra/AccuFLEX combo, definately long. But if the combo doesn't work for you, I might want to pick it up, let me know how it goes.

ambidexterous, so i'll give it a try. You can still hit a lefty club right handed, looks funky but it can be done, I could use it to win some side bets, lol

I just got 3 accuflex vs339 shafts in. one in 2x and two in 3x. Now I just got to find some good heads to put them on. I was thinking of putting a SMT Encore 6*, SMT Encore 8*, and a PureFit ID RAW 420 6.5*. In my opinion i think the ID Raw is the best looking driver head i've ever seen!!! I'll let you guys know how it works out. might be a while though (until I get the funds to purchase them). By the way anyone ever tried the ID raw head before and how did you like it??? Sorry, I don't know how to post up pics. Just gotta copy and paste...

P.S. Idrive, you were right. These shafts are awsome! I can't really tell the difference between this shaft (vs339) and the Assassin, Pro LD, etc. Thanks for the info. on them...

Hey Neil, Now I know where all those Transition shafts are going , too you! Thanks for all your help. I still new to send you that article. And is the C-830-2 Plasma a different version of the C-830-2 or are they one in the same? Idrive can you tell me the difference between the X-speed and XX-speed heads? Face angle, etc. I'm new to LD but enjoying it very much. Thanks ghud

I cant tell the difference between the two, I have them both and according to cobra they are supposed to be square, there is a sound difference between the two, and ball speed is a little higher on the xx speed. not too much of a notable difference though.

Thanks for the reply IDrive, I guess I should list what I'm hitting to keep in line with this thread. Alpha V5 9.5*Limey 270, J33R 9.5*GD Transition 260, Geek DCT 9*GD Transition 260 and Cobra 460 SZ 8.5* looking for a shaft. Which bring me to this question - The AccuFlex VS339 seems to be a favorite of yours and other LDers' can you tell me what you like about this shaft? I'm really enjoying the Transition, thanks again Neil, and what shaft would you recommend for the Cobra XX Speed and 460 SZ. I don't have numbers, but I'm currently hitting the J33R and Geek around 300-310 yds pretty consisently on the range, hoping to get over that hump. Also what SW's do you play or what club head weight? I weighted the Alpha to E0, playing everthing else at around D6. I'm working out and trying to get longer! Thanks again for your reply. Ghud.

I like the VS339 because of the recovery, tightness, weight, tip stiffness. My sw in the drivers are E0-E1. The only recommendations for shafts that I can give you is to find the "one" that works for you best, everybody is different and shafts have different charicteristics, you just need to do trial and error, which could get expensive, but there are lots of places you can find shafts cheap and it would also help if you can find someone to do "quality" work for you for cheap or even barter services to keep costs down. This IS a very expensive sport and any cost cutback would free up practice/competition/shaft/head purchase moneys you would need.

Isn't the xx/speed a little more upright than the x/speed?
