When I first joined, I never knew there were so many bas a$$, internet keyboard ninjas ready to tell someone their opinion was worthless because they have less than 100 feedback or XX # of posts and didn't play to handicap X.

These days, I'll read a thread that I have no interest in when I see some of the hilarious dudes above have posted something just because I want a good laugh and usually get it. I love seeing guys combat some of the negativity on here with humor and thinking outside the typical WRX box.

I always love the dichotomy of the guy on wrx with 5 full bags and a backup bag looking to find that extra 3 yards to go from a 2 cap to a 1 and the guy I see in a Sunday scramble playing with 20 year old pings, has 9 total clubs in his bag that's held together with a bungee cord that has to bum 2 beers from me on 16 because he already drank his 12 pack on the front 9(no cooler mind you, just put an actual 12 pack in the cart). We're all chasing something, it's usually just not the same thing.

Ahh the beauty of the internet. Everyone can say what they want with little to no repercussion outside of what someone types back. Which to me is sad, because you never know whose on the other end, and if its on this forum, your demeaning someone about golf.. and while golf is a big thing to all of us, too many lose perspective that it is just a game, and to me, theres no reason to be a d*ck about a game, especially to people you don't know ANYTHING about, I'm no hippie, and I've been less than pleasant to plenty people for various reasons, but I don't think theres much about golf that'd be worth the animosity that I see sometimes.

On a side note, I was present for an instance in which a good friend of mine ran into someone at the local watering hole who he recognized that was being an a$$ via social media and definitely didn't think he would ever meet my friend face to face, but by a chance of fate, we were all located in the same area. It was a beautiful thing to watch:).

It was absolutely wonderful! My friend was a modest person about his size/capabilities so if you were to creep through his photos, you wouldn't be able to tell anything about him, which equaled a very unpleasant surprise for the troll. It was funny to me, not so much to the guy on the receiving end!

And thats where I learned the lesson that you never know who your talking to, or what some people are capable of, and thankfully, I didn't need to learn it the hard way!

I was so ignorant when I first came on here. I got into a spirited
argument with a guy about golf balls......and I was losing badly.
Later I learned he was a golf ball engineer.
Speaking of which....on here, you just never know who you might be talking to. I have no doubt there are some "names" on here who probably enjoy the heck out of some of the "discussions"....lol
Boy ain't that the truth Chuck. If you don't already have some
humility it's a good place to learn it but that's one of the great
things about golf anyway. It teaches humility to the willing.

It's kind of a fun exercise to ponder whose really on the other
end of your screen if you don't already know. It could be the
Canadian PM....or Joe Sixpack.......or Ben Crenshaw......or
Eric Clapton. Sh**s and Giggles, lol.
How'd you get your paragraphs set like that?

That's pretty cool :)

Have a nice afternoon Bro :)

"Buttery Feel."
This is the dumbest thing that I've ever heard!!

I play with 4 guys that play the blades, 2 Plus Ams, a Pro and an Apprentice asst and I have never, ever heard them describe their feel as "Butter" or "Buttery" or the frickin best, hitting "marshmellows."

Seriously?!?!?

Yea, ok ;)

I've been playin em since '86 and have never felt "butter," "marshmellows" or the "buttery" feel.

The kicker was in this other thread in the equipment section, a guy who shoots 82-86(so he says) is talkin about how "buttery" the 64s felt ;)

A frickin 10-12 is talkin about butter?

Butter this.........

My Best,
Richard

PS I have never said a word, nor would I. I just feel comfortable in here with you Guys and I hardly ever rant. My Shrink says that I have to quit compartmentalizing :) RP II

LOL Richard consider the fact that you may play with decent players that hit it well most of the time. When you hit a skull shot that feels like an electrocution and then follow it with a pure one, that pure one sure feels like ...

... buttah.

I want RPII to explain to me what a butter fade is then, because I love to say that and popcorn and/or butter is not involved.

Definition in a spelling bee: The golfer, the esteemed Uncle Cardy, was deciding on which shot shape to play - a butter fade or a bleeder on this long par 4 that dog legged right over a pernicious barranca. Cue nerd's head imploding

In a non-butter twist, I do also like to call short hitters "popcorn hitters"

Oh man. I am new and have a bunch.

Let's see, I made the mistake of using a nickname as my screen name. I am really not mean, I tell it how I see it, but I am generally not a ******. One time in college I may or may not have been using LSD with my roommates, and I was possibly mean to them because I was sick of hearing their stupid hippie guitar music (not even like they were good) and the fact they didn't want to go out on a nature walk with me or go do something cooler lead to me making fun of everything they were doing. So I teamed up with my non drug induced buddies and ditched them to do more fun stuff. At some point before that one of them said "why is nick being the big mean?" And it was remembered and of all things it freaking stuck....I have since been called big mean, mean, or BM by some.

I genuinely have always preferred forged clubs and blades specifically. This opinion combined with the fact I am vocal, the wrx rookie unknown knowledge of the blades/cbs civil war, I love my Miuras and being vocal about that makes you a douchebag elitist even if I have had the same irons from the late 90s until purchasing these and a few others recently, and the pre explained nickname/member name have all added for some exciting first threads for me to get involved in.

I have been accused in one of my first 5 posts of being someone else logged on in a different name. Probably something regarding blades, but I don't remember.

I picked up on "ho" pretty quickly. I like it!

I have had a few posts moved, still a little unsure where stuff should go.

I never take myself (or others) that seriously and I like to joke around a lot both obviously and subtly and dry, and I think that is the worst possible personality for someone to have when communicating in text with no facial expressions or tones to go with. Ehh, Whatever.

I joined here because 2 of every 3 internet searches I was making about refinishing golf irons led me here and I was a lurker for a while and figured why not cut out the google middle man and just join wrx. So here i am.

Dude, I have always just said soft or harsh or something along those lines. Since joining here and reading through a bunch of stuff etc, I did it. I actually used marshmallow in a sentence regarding an iron!!! I am so freaking embarrassed, you are sooo right. I am pretty sure I have stayed away from buttery in all my posts, but WOW. I need to make sure I keep my lingo my own and not fall into the wrx trap.....

I sure am glad this thread was started....

At least now I know I wasn't the only person who inadvertently said something that caused a minor earthquake....lol

Sh**s and Giggles, lol.
....or Kate Beckinsale. I could only wish....

I think one of the first things I learned was that I am a vile, evil, stupid person because I play golf while wearing jeans.

Now, I already knew I was stupid, but the vile and evil were enlightening for me.
Jeans fine with Fashionable Q. Now jean shorts are a horse of a different color. Totally unacceptable and sooo uncouth.

I'm sorry but you need to have 200 posts to be able to consider something funny. Sorry it's a rule.

I always wondered what that 'Buttery' feel would be like on a really hot and humid day?? Must get pretty messy.... :busted_cop: :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

Good post. And welcome BM.
