What is wrong with me?!?! (video)

The past spring and summer have been the best year I've had golfing. I was consistently low to mid 80's. Then the past month has be TERRIBLE! Sh*nks and loss of distance started happening. I've never been a long ball hitter around (220-230) but now I'd be lucky to hit it 200, and to be honest I'd probably be happy with that. My 9 iron use to be my 125-130 club but now Im hitting it 80 yards. I've been working everyday in my basement to fix this but it seems like the harder I try the worse I get, its like Im in quicksand. I've attached a video of a DTL view of an 8 iron and front view of my driver swing. One thing I know I need to work on is my eye line shifts to the right. That is something Monte said I needed to work on during an online lesson I took with him. I thought I had that fixed but it has crept back into my swing. I plan on taking more lessons with him this winter but I know I have to fix that first. Also, I am consistently hitting near the heel with almost every club so even though I dont shank anymore I still get dangerously close to the hosel, I verified that by using some Dr. Scholls on my clubs. Anything else you guys see in these swings? Any drills I can use to get solid contact and distance back? Thanks in advance for your help!

Left arm moves too far away from you and rotates clockwise too much in the first part of the swing. Put a towel or glove under your left arm and feel like you do no rotate your forearms at all in first half of swing. Here's a video that will help.

No swing guru here, but do a lot of video watchin and it looks like you decel through the ball and certainly through your finish.

Thanks for the help guys. TB07 I see what you are saying with my left arm. It does seem to disconnect on the backswing. I will definitely be giving that drill a try. I wonder, could that be causing me to hit off the heel on my clubs since Im already pushing the club away from me at the beginning of my swing?

Too much head rotation. Look where your eyes are pointed at the top of the swing.

You also rock into your toes during the backswing...its a result of your arms working away and then behind you, more weight needs to work into your right heel.


This drill will help the disconnected backsiwng.

Absolutely! When your arm works that much away from the body and the face rotates that much you will be prone to hit the hosel. Everything working towards ball and club head kicks out due to having to rotate the face back from open so much.

Agree. Looks like he's falling forward after the shot which might be a the cause for the lateral right shot.

Thanks guys for the help. I think Montes suggestion of getting my weight more on the right heel will help with balance hopefully. Brians drill for my arms will hopefully also help me stay balanced since as Monte mentioned I'm getting on my toes because the arms are working away.

So my plan of attack for will be to:

1. Work on keeping my eyes more on the target line.
2. Work on the arm drill of Brian
3. Work on the rythm and release video of Monte

Its nice to have something to actually work on instead of beating balls hoping things change magically. Im going to work an hour a day on this and will report back with progress.

1 hour session Monday and today. First 30 minutes dedicated to drills, last 30 hitting balls. It's been nothing short of frustrating although the last 15 minutes were encouraging. I'm hoping these changes will start to stick after a couple weeks.
