Will acetone harm the finish on Odyssey black putter?

Hey guys -- I won this putter this weekend. Looking to remove the paint fill alignment line. I like a bare look to my putter heads.

 

If I acetone that alignment line, will the acetone do anything to the black finish. I'm not planning on soaking it. Just a q-tip and some TLC

I don't think it would, especially because you're not soaking it. Just for safety try dabbing a bit under the plumber's neck below the shaft insert to see if it does.

Another option is to take a black sharpie and just black out the line if you are concerned about the finish. I've done this many times on black putters when I wanted to black out the sight line.

I'm holding off to see if I like using the line.

See, I've always just aligned the face in the past, with no line, so I didn't like having the stark line. But, I thought I'd give this a try for a while since it's easier to take it off in the future than to put it back.

I redid the paint fill on my Odyssey Metal X #9 and the acetone didn't effect the black finish at all. Not sure it's it's the same black finish on your putter but it might be

what colour did you redo the paint fill?

All black lettering on a black head, I even did the grooves on the face black, then a black Wynn oversize grip.

Looks lovely, thats what I'm thinking about doing on my MXM #9 is blacking out the paintfill, how long did it take you to get the old paint out?

TYVM sir, did not take long, the hardest part is removing the old paint. Its easy after that

A few toothpicks, some acetone, and so.e patients and the old paint will come out, it can be stubborn though sometimes.

I removed the sightline paint on my MXM #9HT using nail polish remover, with no impact to the black finish. Don't be scared to do it - it's fine.

When you upload an image, even before you click "choose files", unclick "watermark images".

You won't get that Golf WRX thing.

If you choose the files before you uncheck watermark, you still get it.

Curious to see how this paint fill held up to time? I am thinking of doing the same, but worried the "by Odyssey" part won't hold up as it is not engraved just lasered. Anything would be helpful?
