Notion
Closer
Sex on fire
Use somebody

In that order. Otherwise, not really a fan

Those are great songs obviously, seems you have only heard songs from only by the Grammies (night) though. Even though that album won all the awards I feel they have stronger ones

First two albums are awesome then they sold out and went too soft

I agree that the first two albums are some of he best, but I highly disagree they sold out. You should watch their talahina skies documentary, they explain how they are trying to develop musically as a band

They're okay. Little soft for my liking. Chicks dig em though so it doesn't hurt to have their music on the playlist.

Rock city
Camaro
Charmer
Molly's chambers
Taper Jean girl
Temple.

Just a few for you to listen to if you want to hear some of the non-soft stuff

Just a few of their

Totally disagree. From their third album onwards they started to sound like every other frigging band out there. They lost the sound that made them stand out in the first place. Very disappointing.

Caleb said mechanical bull was very much inspired by aha shake, so maybe give that a listen. We will just have to agree to disagree, just because you can now understand calebs lyrics does not mean that they sold out.

Agreed. Velvet snow was the last good song they made. First album was good, and about half of Aha Shake was good. I wouldn't classify them as indie rock. They would definitely be mainstream. Their fourth album could be classified as borderline Yacht Rock.

Any KOL fans out there? I'm a huge fan myself and just recently saw them live in Raliegh in Septemeber, they do an incredible live show!
Went to the same concert in September, 2nd time seeing them. They're pretty good, really amazing live. Where in Raleigh do you play? I joined MacGregor Downs this past summer after moving here from Greenville, NC.

I actually live in Henderson and play at a private club, Henderson country club. I play often at North Ridge in Raleigh and TPC wakefield plantation in wake forest though
They took a sabbatical to England and Scotland were they took up the game of golf. The golf bug took hold quickly and they dropped everything they were doing on new work to concentrate on golf. Then their manager got upset with them and all hell broke loose.......

Yall need to ATLEAST give their third album credit:

Charmer
Camaro
Knocked Up
Ragoo
Arizona

All such great songs and nothing that could possibly be considered "pop"...
Can't. My list of songs by them is this:

Spiral Staircase
Molly's Chamber
Velvet Snow
King of the Rodeo
Joe's Head

The lyrics of so many of their songs are also not great. I point to Soft, Charmer, and of course Remomo. Not sure how long you have been following them, but there was a time when people literally thought they were a boy band! Good old NME!

My problem with the third album (and all the subsequent ones) is that it's over produced and too polished.

In my opinion they sounded a lot better when they they were a bit rough round the edges. That's what made them stand out against other bands at that particular time.

"Genius", for example, tipifies the original KOL sound that I think worked best.

I agree. I think that they were best when it sounded like they were playing in their garage and you could hardly understand what Jared was saying. I liked it when they sounded gritty and raw.

They went and got haircuts, started dating models and wearing designer clothes. Now its too polished and produced. Same thing happened to the Strokes.

I am still listening to Manipulator by Ty Segall. In my opinion it is probably the best album to come out last year. That and Tyranny by Julian Casablancas and the Voidz are what I listen to most. I also enjoy Broncho's new album, Twin Peaks, and the last Real Estate album when I am feeling mellow.

Anybody listen to Local Natives or walk the moon?

I saw Walk the Moon's "Shut Up and Dance" on AXS TV the other day and loved it. I'm going to check out more of their stuff.

Yeah I have come to really like them

My favorites are:

Lisa Baby
Next in Line
Quesadilla
Anna Sun
And Tight Rope.

They also have a live cover of David Bowies "Let's Dance" and it's phenomenal!
