Look at his feet and weight placement POST-impact. The less weight you have on your left side at impact, the more timing is required by flipping your hands through the hitting area. Obviously, he has grooved this release method beautifully and is more than capable of repeating it time and time again under pressure. This thread was intended to compliment his talent, b/c he certainly has a lot of it to be able to play at such a high level with that move through the ball.

That was my point. The argument of "this guy must be so talented to overcome his incredibly flawed timing based swing on tour" is just silly. All guys on tour incredibly talented and any swing made without good timing will not perform well, no matter how it looks on film or still shots.

Would you not agree that his action through the ball is unique in that his right heel stays on the ground for a very long time post impact? There have been a number of other successful players on tour that have done it similarly, Kenny Perry comes to mind and he is also incredible. Bubba is a left handed example as well. Its one of the reasons that he is able to hit up on the ball so well.

When you couple his slow weight transfer to his left side with his crazy left foot spin out that can be seen on any video that zooms in on his footwork with a driver swing, it is amazing how well he hits the ball. More power to him for going with it, as there are lots of ways to skin a cat.

Not trying to start a swing theory debate. Different methods work for different players and there is no "one method".

Again, all I am saying is how awesome it is that he is able to play so precisely with so many moving parts at the moment of truth. It works for him and I hope he never changes it.

I agree it is unique. Kenny Perry was/is a great ball striker too. Maybe it causes less moving parts and less timing? Who knows....but the argument of "timing based" versus not on tour players swings is tired and at best has little to do with their success or ball striking ability. Makes pretty pictures though...

Kind of brings up the old argument of what's more important... proper swing mechanics or a repeatable swing? I know it isn't strictly an either/or scenario, but if you have a flawed-looking swing but you know where your ball is going, can hit it far, and can control your distances, who really cares?

That does look goofy though. When it is in real time and I see it on TV, his swing doesn't look nearly that awkward.
