Personally I admire guys like Trevino, Seve and Cabrerra who have come fom far less privileged backgrounds but have actually made it to the top on the back of winning championships, not self promotion.

It must really suck being miserable all the time.
I can make an informed opinion without letting emotion influence me. Poulter is a never was in the world of.championship golf. Like him kr hate him, he is a non entity in major golf. It is ludicrous for him to write a book with so little golf success to draw from.
Well let's just say any he book he writes will be a million times more successful than yours
I would only have to sell one book to prove you wrong ;)

I'd like to see him actually win something before writing a book telling us all how far he's come.
So 2 PGA Tour wins, 12 European Tour wins, numerous top 10 finishes in majors, and a member of 5 winning Ryder cup teams don't count as wins?

Ian focuses his charitable pursuits on two organizations that work with children and his own charitable golf tournament, the Ian Poulter Invitational. Ian works with DreamFlight, The Willow Foundation and his Invitational event to impact the lives of youth in the U.S. and U.K. Dreamflight is a registered United Kingdom charity whose purpose is to take seriously ill and disabled children on their “Holiday of a Lifetime” to theme parks in Central Florida. The Ian Poulter Invitational is all about bringing together the most-talented junior golfers from across the UK and giving them an opportunity to experience competition at a high lievel, take them away from the comfort zone of their club or local area and give them an insight into what it is like competing against other great golfers. The Willow Foundation is the only charity of its kind providing special days for 16-to-40-year-olds. Special days aim to provide young adults living with life-threatening conditions a chance to escape the pressures of their daily routine and share quality time with family and friends.

Cmon guys...I mean in not miserable (except when I'm forced to drink scotch that costs less then 100$). But I mean I don't see what there is to learn from a guy like poulter. He does seem like a bit of a self aggrandizer and obviously is a great golfer, but hasn't won a ton.

Everyone is entitled to write a book, but he's a pretty standard pro athlete. Moderate success, lavish in your face spending. Charitable, sure, but more as a percentage of income then 10000 people you've never heard of...not necessarily

Well, if he wasn't such a DB all the time, just to make a name for himself, then his opinion would be better received. But as it happens, this is exactly what he is going for. And were still waiting for the "informed" part of his opinion.

Plenty of new posters aren't DB's just to get noticed, talk about self-promotion.

I'd better get myself a fire proof suit before posting here again. Can't believe all the IP apologists who atack me for pointing out that he isn't exactly Jack Nicklaus. Actually he's closer to Gary Nicklaus.

Where did you say that??? You said he was " a non-entity". You completely thrashed him and you are completely uninformed.

I can't get through it, not well written, self aggrandizing. Yes he came from nothing and I respect what he's done but don't care for him personally. And it's very rare I don't finish a golf book...

I agree that it is poorly written but you hardly expect a dropout to write like james joyce!

Wow, Poults got skills>

When the short days of winter came, dusk fell before we had well eaten our dinners. When we met in the street the houses had grown sombre. The space of sky above us was the colour of ever-changing violet and towards it the lamps of the street lifted their feeble lanterns. The cold air stung us and we played till our bodies glowed. Our shouts echoed in the silent street.

Certainly, your posts and playa/mr smiths posts are not even from the same planet, and are founded from completely different motivations. So comparing your insight to his...whatever...is a futile effort.

So he earns his millions by wearing outfits? Kidding yourself. He has plenty more wins in him..spent 2014 playing through injury. Get a clue.

At least he is interesting..better than watching the 100 Zach Johnson's on tour zzzzzzzzzzz
Well he does have his own clothing line and has had for some time so yes he does earn a lot of money from wearing stupid outfits. He has but a reputation on tour more from what his clothes say than his clubs.
He has said that the clothing line doesn't make him money and any money made he doesn't take anyway. As I said get some idea instead of sitting at home watching coverage of boring Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk and Webb Simpson all day long.

Winter time, dusk comes earlier, dinner comes later. I meet friends in the street, among sad homes. The sky was purple and the street was lit by weak street lights. Damn, it was cold, and we were noisy.
