I had a old old whiteboard stiff in a 3 wood and that mother was STIFF. It was in a 13* fairway head and that was a great club off the tee.

Recently had a driver with a D+ 72 Xstiff and that thing was a whippy noodle with no feel to it at all, very soft tip and soft to flex, felt like a regular.

I've left that manufacturer behind and not looking back.

Really? I've played around with the D+ 72 stiff in my fairways woods. While I love the D+ 62 in my Driver, I never liked the feel in my fairway wood (TM RBZ). I can't replicate the distance with that shaft compared to the Fujikura Rombax Type X that I have in the same head. I actually think the D+ 72 is very stiff. Not as stiff as the W Series or Original White Board, but stiff enough for me to notice a difference.

Titleist GT2, Motore Speeder 661

Titleist GT2 16.5*, or Titleist GT2 15* both w/Tensei Blue 75 (sometimes I switch a Rombax Type-X 75S)

Mizuno Pro 245, 4-GW, DG S300

Correct. Below are the flagship Diamana lines that have been produced in Japan.

1st Gen Diamana 2nd Gen 3rd Gen
BlueBoard (S profile) kaili B Series
WhiteBoard (D profile) ahina W Series
Redboard (M profile) ilima R Series

The Diamana +Plus line are produced in China with lower modulus material just like the previous "made for" offerings were. Some models are closer to the flagship Japanese counterpart than others (D+ is closer to the W Series than the S+ is to the B Series).

This info is very helpful! I have played the original BlueBoard 63 for many years, first in a stiff flex and now in a regular flex as my swing speed has dropped with age. I've tried the Kaili, but it was too stiff, and the B appears to be even stiffer - at least from the descriptions I have read. I've tried the original version of the S+ in a Titleist 913 and didn't like it quite as well as my old BB 63.

How does the new version of the S+ (the Blue 60) compare to the earlier version or to the classic BB 63? From the specs it appears to be a little lighter and to be higher torque in the R flex than the BB 63. So how does it play in actual use? Is it an improvement over the earlier S+ in any way?

Thanks!!!

I have DBB 63, 83 and WB 63 & 73, in 'r' 's' and 'x'. Sold the RB 83 and DBB 73 to friends. Have had the DBB 83 in my 3wd for sometime now, and still happy as its a great shaft. Some b/g info... All board series shafts were/are rolled (unique), starting with the orginal Blueboard 83 series (the shaft that started it all for MR). Then came 73 series and WB, followed with 63 BB series, which was an after thought by MR designers for the senior set.

The BB 63 is a good shaft, but its a little bit different bend from its big brothers DBB 83/73. They wouldn't tell me how though. :) I also have the Diamana Kaili 80 x5ct. They say its mid-high bend, but I don't blieve it. Don't like it at all, or some of the other newer shafts, including DS+ plus series. That's not to suggest they are bad shafts. They just don't work for me, due to their profile and my fast transition/tempo. Reason I am still enjoying PX6C12 (weight is comparable to DBB63, except PX tip is much stiffer. When tq gets below 3.1, tips on MR shafts start feeling uncomfortable in my hands; and when they get above 3.8, they tend to feel as if the bend in more in the middle or towards the tip.

The original BB73 is my favorite. Really nice feel and perfect balance. Might try to find one for my 915! I'm looking forward to getting my 915 in soon, and trying these shafts especially seeing my D+ 60 on the course.

Has anyone hit the S+ 80 in a fairway? I'm really interested in this and haven't seen much talk about it at all.

I have an original Diamana Blue Board 73 stiff with a Titleist tip. Please PM me if interested.

That's the way I felt with the S+. And that's where this all started with me. It just feels off because the bend point is too low for me. The problem, in an effort to save money, I've thrown more money at the problem to make it fit. I should have just bought an additional Rombax Type-X and put it in the X2 Hot and I would have saved myself the time and aggravation. Now I'm $50 bucks into the S+, and $80 bucks into the original blue board (new and uncut). Go figure! And then I'll probably be $200 into the Rombax Type-X if the BB doesn't work.

I always thought the D+ and S+ were cheaper because they were stock shafts in Titleist clubs, therefore more plentiful, and not because they were inferior.

And that's where the confusion lies. They are a massed produced shaft from China, not Japan. They are still good shafts, but not of the caliber the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation are. There is a reason you could buy the plus series new at $275 and the 3rd Generation series are $350.
