I agree, I think he knows his stuff, and imho, it's the best (and biggest) collection of videos on the golf swing you'll get for a very reasonable fee per month. There is tons of good information on his site and based on what I've watched, he's worked through TGM, MORAD, SnT, TPI, radar, all that info and presents it in a clear and simple way. I know he presented at the recent PGA show and heard about him from other pros so he's known among instructors. I usually am always looking out for good instructors and never found out about him on my own, only by chance, reading a post in FB where Dana Dahlquist put in a good word for him. I figured if Dahlquist recommended his video, he must be pretty good and he is.

Yes

I got on to him recently through a video on Rich Hunt's site., for the warm up - very good.

Has lots of videos and does explain things clearly.

The one thing I don't like is he wants you take a hugh shift laterally on the downswing - he has an exercise for it called the Jackson 5.

Here he is showing how to bounce a ball on a wedge

If someone is not going to get hands on instruction, I think that this website offers a wealth of information...no tips or quick fixes just sound and in depth information. This would be and is great for the golf nerd who can't stop looking for a better solution to the golf swing. Tyler is more than generous with answers to questions sent in. I think its the best source of golf information that i have run across on the net.

This site is excellent. One piece of information I found very interesting is what he calls "the wipe" -- he mentions that all good ballstrikers make this move as measured on 3D.

Best way I can describe it is that during the release, the arms work toward the midline the torso, independent of body rotation. He mentions even Jim Furyk who has the right elbow behind the right hip makes this motion during the release. He says that this move is what helps create a shallow aoa and flat spot among other positives. I found it somewhat similar to Monte's right elbow chasing the belly button.

Lots of really good stuff and there's a 7 day free trial

Is the wipe the hands traveling upwards before impact ? When does the wipe occur ?

No, it is the arms moving from their position on the right side of body, toward the center of the body. He mentioned Furyk specifically does this during the release, but I would guess that there are players that do it earlier.

Reviving an aging thread here. Has anyone had a swing analysis after signing up for the site? I’m in the seven day trial and don’t believe I’m a good at self diagnosing my issues.

That diagnosis part is a big deal. I don’t know anything about Tyler’s online lessons (read his book, awesome stuff, haven’t joined site) but I just wanted to support your point about self diagnosis. Good diagnosis is the key to improving imo

Haven't had a swing analysis from Tyler, but...

I'm gonna keep this bumped just to say that Tyler's book is awesome and well worth the price. His YT videos are great, and I'm sure his website is even more so.

I’m halfway through the book. A lot to digest, but as you read it and think about the swings you see on tv it makes sense.

A lot of us know what to do, but the how can be elusive. It’s nice that he breaks down the body movements into steeps and shallows.

I think I’ll give the membership a whirl and try the analysis.

Had a lesson with Tyler a couple weeks ago. He is awesome! Great communicator! Great mix of theory, self understanding, self discovery and feel. Can't wait for my next lesson and many more in the future!

where is he located and what is the best way to contact

He is at La Rinconda in Los Gatos. Tyler is one of the most knowledgeable instructors in the world. Watching him teach is awesome. Just unbelievably good at what he does.

Do you wish to see url links from Jeff Mann who has been critical of some of TF's concepts? Or would that cause too much of a furore?

Hahaha. What a maroon.

Link to the Jackson five drill is at the bottom

This Jackson 5 drill ,which is a lateral slide of the PELVIS, is CLEARLY in opposition to the movement suggested by George Gankas, which is a combination of left HIP external rotation and left hip abduction..This combination of hip moves suggested by Mr Gankas results in the left knee both rotating and moving laterally toward the target and pressure weights the left foot. Mr Gankas has cited many times the problems that the lateral slide has caused him personally over the years.

So if you like Mr. Gankas 's transition move ,you will hate this move and visa versa.

Brian Manzella has defined the transition as the time in the swing where the upper body is moving in a different direction than the lower body.

Incorporating this idea of separating the lower body from the upper body in the transition is the difficult part of the transition and the most athletic part of the entire swing.Basically the lower body starts down as the the upper body is still winding up.There is no mention of how to do this in this drill ; I do not know if he mentions it on his website.

The 4-6 inch lateral movement mentioned by Tyler applies to the driver and results from the width of the driver stance .There is less lateral movement with irons because the stance is narrower than with the driver.

To minimize the amount of angular movement of the pelvis in transition. is a bit disingenuous. At the top the pelvis is about 35-45 degrees closed.By the time that the transition is over (left arm parallel),many top players have their pelvis almost square. .By impact their pelvises are about 35 degrees open.So top players are moving their pelvis about 75 degrees open from the top to impact and about half of that movement happens from the beginning of transition to the end of transition(left arm parallel)

Adam Scott is an example

Caveats

Do NOT ,DO NOT tilt the left side of the pelvis higher than the right side during early transition as Tyler is demonstrating.Doing so results in a myriad of problems.

Relatively level is a better way of thinking of this.Yes,eventually the left side of the pelvis will tilt higher than than the right, but not during the early stages of the transition

DO NOT,DO NOT EVER move the pelvis laterally beyond the outside of the lead heel. Because of the way our bodies are constructed a move beyond this point will make any further angular movement of the pelvis impossible.Note that i use the terms angular movement of the pelvis because it is anatomically impossible for the pelvis. to rotate beyond a very small amount

Wouldn't Monte's zipper away be a better demo then from the caveats copied above, pretty much same thing, but with level hip movement in the demo?

Good. These kind of guys pop up, they are kind of like fleas in the summer. They never go away for good. In a day or a week, the same basic guy will show up again, arguing that the 'right pinkie swing, passed down from Hogan in a dream state is the Truth!'

But... the one good thing about this post is, it did create the memory of Bugs Bunny in my mind and that's always a big plus.

Not sure why you say this.

I am not familiar with Mr Mann ,but I wanted to read a review of Mr Ferrell's book,so I googled Mr Mann and I went to his website ,Newtons something.

I could not find a review of Mr Ferrell's book ,but I did find some comments on Mr Ferrell's video of the motorcycle move .

Now it took some time to figure out what all the Ps meant and what some of the abbreviations meant, but the article by Mr Mann was hardly moronic jibberish. He seemed to make the argument that Mr Ferrell and others were misinterpretating this move for another move.I will go through the article in much more detail and report the results
