Nashville/Memphis Golf/Food

I'm heading down to Memphis in late March/April. Hope to read a recap of the trip so I can have new suggestions for my group!

Hotels for Memphis:

If you want to be in Memphis, but not on/ near Beale St, look at the Hampton or Embassy on Shady Grove (heart of financial stuff and the neighborhood where Memphis's real $$$$$ live). There is a hilton right there too. Several nice restaurants there as well Ruth's Chris, Seasons 52, Brennan's, etc)

If you don't mind a little drive make sure you check out Sweetens Cove GC in South Pittsburg TN. It's an hour to an hour and a half from Nashville down I24. It just opened in October, it's only 9 holes but I don't think you will find better Golf anywhere in TN. To be fair I am involved in the project down there so I could be biased but we have had more than 1 member from the Honors Course say Sweetens is easily better. We have been given strong indication that we will be ranked as the number 1 or at worst number 2 9 hole course in the country by Golf Digest in their next ranking. The course is just amazing. Definitely worth the drive if great golf is your priority.

how's the weather in Nashville area for golf in Feb?

Depends on the day...mid 40's most of the time it seems like this year. A few days of 50+ spinkled in..with wind.

I have lived all over Tennessee and played a bunch of golf in the Memphis area. Mirimichi is the best public course in the area, but JT just sold it, so that may change. TPC Southwind is great, if you can get on. Spring Creek Ranch is definitely the best overall. If you are going to be in Nashville, drive to Chattanooga and play Bear Trace at Harrison Bay. I played it last weekend and it is in good shape, even now. If you have a connection, the honors is the best course in the State. Tunica isn't a bad option, but I would play either Tunica National or River Bend. As for food, Hollywood cafe (from the walking in Memphis song) is a great place for southern food. As for BBQ, eat at Central BBQ for the best overall local bbq. Corky's has the best pulled pork and Rendezvous is the best atmosphere and has great ribs. There are a dozen bbq joints worth visiting. In Nashville, Wildhorse Saloon is a great place to have dinner and watch some live music. Enjoy yourself!

This good advice. However, the Embassy Suites referred to is currently going through a renovation. It may remain open through the renovation. The restaurant in the Embassy Suites is still open and surprisingly good. It is called Grisanti's.
