You suck....I have been on auction now and I found a set of....,,.,yoro craft custom mp33s that just have an M toward the toe, no other engravings and satin finish and are $280. I have found 3 yoro mp33 sets, apparently they started the custom thing with this set or around that time, and they are all a little different and all look Hard as F&*K.

Are the mp33s really worth the hype? I know that is a dumb question, but I mean really, like for real would I be like yo that is better or as good as a MP4?

I agree, I've tested MP33 and they are great, but honestly not as good in both feeling and performance on mishits as the MP4. The MP4s are serious keeper clubs and with a newer design. The MP4 6-4 are way easier to get up. I know there is crazy love for the MP33 and I'm one of them, but the MP4 is a beautiful and feel as good as any mizzy i've ever hit.

I've played MP-4s, even buying my set back once after I traded it in. So I'm definitely an MP-4 fan. I've hit the MP-33s, but never owned a set. My take is that they are actually pretty similar, but the MP-4s are just a bit more refined. Imagining tinging a knife against two different crystal glasses. Both are good quality, but one is even better. So both sound great, but one sounds that bit better.

That said, the MP-33s have slightly weaker lofts, and I prefer that to the MP-33s.

I'd quite like to own a set of 33s, but right now I have enough clubs. Mind you, I could be persuaded to thin my herd, sell my MP-37s and MS-11s and get a set of MP-33s in exchange.

If u have the mp4s, ur probably good unless ur a lunatic like me that needs to try every club out there. Having a past history with a club presents a nostalgic need for me. I remember hitting my father's 33s b4 they were stolen and I think part of my desire is the look on his face when he'll eventually see them in my bag. That being said, they are not easy and it took me about a half bucket to really get dialed in tonight

But man are they pure. Definitely more solid(solid as in nit as soft, but more impactful if that makes sense)...like super pure contact) feeling than the mp4 and I think the edge is probably sharper, or more old school, cuz I was flipping pancakes like it was breakfast at the fat farm. Wow, I don't know where that came from.

I traded a scotty 2014 putter for them which will move my ping Shea back into my rotation. After about a month with the scotty, I never really played that well with. I never truly found a comfort level and it cost me a couple really good rounds. The feel was amazing, no arguement, but the confidence I have with the ping, literally 25 percent the price, leaves me going for the hole from anywhere on the green. Sorry, I know this is for blades, but I post more on this group in a week than I've ever posted on the other subgroups, so it's a comfort level thing?

Lunatics, no not the guy in Florida surfing Japanese auctions for 2 hours.....

Found a set of raw yoro mp4s with x100s for $380.....I hate that I don't get along with Vegas but I just don't, I need to move my vm02 set and I may list tomorrow. I wanted a CB set and then done....but so many options and the worst part is that nothing is going to kick my BBs out of the bag, so why am I even looking???? Oh yeah, just some lunatics flipping pancakes like it is breakfast at the fat farm, that's why.

With apologies to nolixul (who recently generously offered me a set I turned down)....

I've added to my Ram collection this week. I do random searches of Ram clubs on ebay, just to see what's out there. I happened across a set of Ram FX Nickel Tour Grinds, complete with DGS shafts, being sold by one of the solid gents of the Classic Golf folders, and I could not resist.

I've owned two sets of these in the past, and unloaded them each time. In both cases, they had shafts that were too soft for me, and when folks came calling, I sent them on their way. This particular set having DGS made them considerably more attractive; with the stock shafts, these would have been essentially another set of component heads for me to work on. ;)

I've mentioned my bouncing between the stiff and Xstiff world in iron shafts. I can still play Xstiff, but these days, it seems more like work than actually swinging a golf club. And, playing X can do some silly things to my tempo. (Interestingly, I've been having success with double softstepped DGX in a wedge, and have a plan to try that with a set of irons fairly soon) So I'd been thinking of dropping back down to the DGS world, and suddenly up pop the FX Nickels.

Serendipity, I guess. Sort of. LOL

So here's a pic from the now finished ebay auction:

Nice, NRJyzr. Looking forward to more pictures when they arrive :nyam:

They arrived yesterday, already took them to be adjusted for loft and lie. :pimp:

I didn't snap any pics, I'll have to see about doing that when I pick them up, possibly later today.

Current plan is to play them this weekend. :)

What sort of lofts are you after. I am still wondering about what I should set my VIPs at. I am currently playing the 9i at 45*, so it's effectively the PW in the set, as the next club down will be a 50* MD2 wedge. I might deloft the set by a degree, to bring it into line with my MP4 lofts (albeit with a different number on the soles). Also, the 4i loft is 25*, and the 3i 23*. Delofting all but the three iron might produce a better distance gap. Plus, taking a degree off should reduce the look of offset a bit.

What I did with the Rams was more about lie angles than lofts; if these came perfect from the factory, I'd still need to bump them upright a bit. I went a bit less than I normally have played, with a 62° 5 iron, because my plan after regripping is to extend them a bit. Which will also let me pull the lead tape I'll have to add at their current "normal" length. :)

My chosen loft progression is almost identical to their factory specs: 20/23½/27/31/35/39/43/47 for 3-PW. The only deviation is tweaking the 3 thru 5 irons for a 3½° gap, making the 3 iron a degree stronger than spec. I truly dislike the 3° gaps that have been foisted on us. LOL (I recognize I'm not particularly different with above)

Thought about going 21-49 as I've done with other sets, but I may be playing a set of CBs as alternate irons that are largely the same lofts as those to which I'm having the Rams set. Going for that continuity, I guess. Probably go 51/58 or 52/58 with wedges, maybe even 53/60. Then I can feel all rugged and manly about how far I'm hitting my 6 iron, just as I did with the downwind ISI 6 iron I'd mentioned earlier in the thread. Woo!! Look at my manliness!! (lol at me)

My personal thought on your VIPs..... is essentially what you describe. Going with the classic 26° 4 iron to a 46° 9 iron (and 50° PW, of course, even if you aren't carrying it). If you decide to keep the 3 iron in there, you could go 23° or even 22°. It's pretty close to the classic lofts of VIP sets over the years. And, you shouldn't have much adjustment from your MP-4 with those lofts.

It's always best to think about your clubs and your distances in terms of loft, not in terms of the club numbers. It's also not the easiest thing to do, because we've all been indoctrinated into the Way of the Club Number, as long as we've played this lovely game. But the number is meaningless, it's always about the lofts.

Totally unrelated: I just noticed my WRX Join Date was my first wife's birthday.

I may have posted about this in years past, but it's not in the memory banks.

Obviously, some 15 years after our split, it wasn't exactly something in the forefront of my brain. LOL

So nippon modus3 130 stiff, I'm trying to decide which set to put them in and would appreciate some pros and cons.

Options

Cleveland 588 mb

Mizuno mp 59

Mizuno mp 33

Srixon z945

Nike vr tw

Ping s56

I strongly leaning toward the mp 59s or the 33s....any pros or cons would be appreciated.

Most of my other clubs are dg s300 but these in particular I think would pair well

Ya so there was also an additional 12% code to stack on the 15% code and the free shipping... so um ya I guess I kind of bought the MP4s, we'll soon be seeing what 'very good' means to Globalgolf.

And like the numpty that I am, I am back up to 6 sets of irons.... oh well, tough thing to have to deal with ;)

My first thought is, do you like Project X? Modus 130 is kind of the Nippon version of PX. Many folks who like DG don't like PX and vice versa, though there are some who get on well with both

I would also worry that 130 stiff in a straight install would be stiffer than DGS. I'm not versed enough to suggest how much softstepping would be necessary, so I'll defer to others in that arena.

Of the blades you list, I would place the Nike at the top. The mp33 are probably second. If you can personally try the 588mb, I think they're definitely worth a look, as are the Srixons. I'm not fond of their backpad being somewhat low slung, but that's personal preference.

And now, the lead tape....

An interesting set, these Rams. Several of the irons ranged between D5 and D6 without tape, and not overlength. A couple were D3, like the 9 iron and PW, and another was only marginally above that. I was looking for D5, so I ran with anything between that and D6. :)

I was gifted a Frequency Matched Ram Tour Grind SW with the set, I had that adjusted to 56°. Turns out, previous owner, or repeated use without further adjustment ;), had made it 53½°. I'd thought of taking it to 58°, but when it was 53.5°, I didn't want to worry about a more than 4° bend.

Something else the clubmaker told me... he mentioned these were somewhat difficult to bend. Not because they didn't want to bend, but because they're so soft, they bent super easily; he had to adjust his touch to lighter than normal, LOL. They're cast nickel, perhaps not unlike the Maxfli Revolution or 99 Aussie Blades, which makes me wonder if they'll play that soft, also.

I can't wait to find out. :)

When u guys are hitting an iron draw, which way does your divot point? I'm hitting the ball accurately but the divot is pointing, if u are standing with ur belt buckle straight toward the horizon, the divot is pointing about 10 o clock. I normally can find the ball if ive lost it by walking in the direct path my divot points, but it seems to be slightly pointed pull side these last few days, especially with these mp 33s today

....god, am I coming in over the top again?

I normally can find the ball if ive lost it by walking in the direct path my divot points, but it seems to be slightly pointed pull side these last few days, especially with these mp 33s today

....god, am I coming in over the top again?

That's a rhetoric question obviously :)

That's a pull 'draw' sir. You know. We know it. The ball knows it... assuming you mean the direction of your belt buckle when facing your target and looking down at your divot and not where its facing where you are addressing the ball ;)

So this is also my MO. However, I can also hit balls pretty straight and have a 11:00 divot, and I can also somehow have a straight divot and hit a draw that starts right. I struggle with pulls and pull hooks, but my hooks with irons start out even 5 ft. Right of target then just start going hard left. I can hit that shot with an 11:00 divot.....this game is illogical, but at the same time has a physical answer to everything.

My babies...

I prefer muscleback/blade profiles, I live in texas with its tight turf and I take divots so the thinner soles work better for me and I love the way they feel.

What kind of finish is that on your MBs? They look awesome! I just sold my set on eBay and was so upset about it that I bought another set a week later. I'm waiting for them to arrive now.

Sounds pretty similar to my divots the la d t few days. Accurate shot, just different divot angle than I'm used to. I took video today and it looks like I'm coming over the top which I haven't thought about or worried about in a while. good tragectory, good distance, accurate, so maybe I'm just worrying that something is creeping into my swing that shouldn't be there..these nippons seem lighter so maybe I'm swinging with more whip or something.

Good to see you, Shooter!

It's a party! Wilson Staffs for everybody!

(LOL)

I took my Staff Fluid Feels out to the range today at noon (85 degree beautiful day). I made the mistake of regripping them with Z-Grips. I hit a few, only a few, a little thin, and I mean only a little thin. My fingers are still numb and feeling like they were stepped on. I'm too old for those just for that reason. They're just too hard on the hands, even if you're hitting them good. I'm in love with them, but it's a love/hate for sure.
