you can never go wrong with a set of W/S blades.

As mentioned above, very forgiving for a blade and feel great.

These would be a great first set of blades for anyone looking to jump on over to hang out with us cool kids.

I had a set of the FG-62s. I sold them during the pandemic when I decided I was going to keep only one modern set, and focus more on old Mizuno irons. The pandemic mark-up on secondhand clubs also helped my decision.

 

The 62s were great clubs. Nothing wrong with them at all, but I preferred my MP4s. I have a couple of much older Staff models, but all have one thing in common for me: I really like the look of the short irons. Wilson just gets it right for me.

I have both the current and last version of the Wilson MB irons from 7-PW. Play them as combo sets with the CB irons. They are great irons. You will not be disappointed.

Every now and again, if you're lucky, a brand new set of Staff Blades will pop up on Yahoo auctions for $300-$500. Even with the shipping, you're in profit. I can only assume the Wilson brand is not popular in Japan.

Since you have both, can you tell much of a difference between the last two versions of the Staff Model Blade? Seems they are very similar, except for the different spot of the logo and no “W/S” on the logo?

Bought a new set of Z forged ii irons and am contemplating of just stripping chrome and blasting the nickel plate off and running a raw set of blades this year. I'd have to say the polished chrome is the only thing I don't like about the z forged irons. What to do, what to do 🤔

Not sure if someone's gone out of business and liquidated everything but there are some supreme deals to be had on the bay right now for brand new heads if you're a fan of blades and player's CBs. Was tempted to grab some of the Miuras I saw at pretty much Japan direct prices but found something else fun instead.

Another set of blades to build up.  Z945.  The faces have very minimal wear, as you can still see all of the etching lines between the grooves.  But man, the combo chrome and flat silver finish on the back of the head really doesn't age well.  These look like they were hit for about 20 rounds, but carried for 200 rounds.

If you put in the brand and select new in the filters you should come across all the listings. I was looking at MB 101s and MC 502s when I came across a few different sellers with the spanking new Miuras. Some even had ferrules I couldn't find anywhere else, so I'm guessing it was a few sets of heads for some shop or another.

Miura is all you need to search for.

Yeah, 100% stick to people with a positive rating over time and a decent number of heads or full sets sold. Even the clearinghouse style sellers who move all kinds of stuff tend to sell a number of clubs so you can mostly tell if they're legit.

Hey Bromeisters, it's been a minute though I was goin through my cedar closet, which turned into my iron storage space, until Maddie said that enough was enough, that I had to give up half the space to her and her clothes, lol. 

 

The ludicrousy of clothes over clubs in a cedar closet is beyond me though I'm too old to argue as this definitely ain't the hill to die on🤪

 

In diggin, I found my first retail set of 14's, from 1995, though my first set of 14's were Protos that I got while in Japan in 1993, a season before the retail version hit the market. I played the 14's from 1993 to 2007.

 

I also found a set of the 1000 Protos, which I picked up in Japan after hitting them, as they are cast, versus the regular 1000's are Forged. All that I know is that not a single Player that hit these, including Bob Ford & Nathan Smith, along with at least another half dozen Plusses, believed them to be cast, with Bob even went so far as to call some Pro Bud in Japan who Played Fourteens to ask him. 

 

Yep, cast, lol....

 

I was offered $1000 for them 💰💰

 

I should've taken it as I paid $700USD+, lol

 

This reminds me of the double blind test(cept for the lone Sr. iron design engineer who did know the diff) that Mizzy did with its entire Tour Staff, including Lukester & Stacey, where Mizzy had four complete sets of 33's & 67's, sterile un-marked with the exception of the iron # on the sole toe, in brushed chrome, one set of each in cast & one set forged.

 

Not a single Pro, including the World's #1's, could consistently & accurately differentiate the cast from forged🤷🏻‍♂️. Luke admitted that his choices were purely guesses, as the irons "felt" identical. 

 

Anyhoo, it sucks that I no longer have the swing that I had prior to two strokes and one TIA, cuz these Protos are serious blades🤙

It was a DIY project on a basement closet that was basically used for storing both of our clubs though Maddie doesn't "hoard" clubs like I do, lol.

 

I used red cedar planks versus cedar plywood, though I was just under $750 for materials.

Hi Squad! Looking for some advice. I need a set of blades to keep at my Dad's house. Current setup is Miura BB 2.0 and I FREAKING LOVE IT. Other blades I've played and loved are Kyoei KCM and Hogan Ft Worth 15. Blades I've played and haven't loved are the Titleist 680 and the Hogan Apex '99. Currently looking at Mizuno MP4 and also Honma Tour athlete 925
