Old subject - bore through replacement

Hey guys. My dad had an old 983E lying around in his garage, and I was curious what the reshafting options for it would be? It is a bore through, which I understood required a...bore through shaft. Do I have this right?

Not to overly simplify things, however a bore through club can either be shafted with a shaft having sufficient amount of PTS (parallel tip section) to enable playing @ target frequency or old shaft can be drilled out from hosel only to a more normal insertion depth, increasing available shaft options. The second option often is used simply because of more "normal" calculation of shaft stiffness via manufacturer tipping instructions and fact that less labor required to make club have suitable aesthetics.

Dude, thanks for the response but...already out of my league. lol

Got any "for examples" in terms of shafts? Anything Aldila?

Cut off old shaft, drill out hosel to 2" depth only, leaving remaining portion of shaft in bottom of bore through, install preferred shaft as normal. No borethrough plug needed, no epoxy to sand flush to make bottom of club presentable, easiest route.
