Hard to compare against any USDM club, but they don't look smaller, if that is what you are wondering. Feel wise, they are exactly what an iron should feel like. This year's tour model CB is amazing in looks and feel. They are Endo forged in Japan, so they won't be cheap but they perform great. If you are looking at the 2015 versions, I would go CB tour model over the PB tour model. The CB is more classic looking and the PB has a notch in the cavity to allow more speed and forgiveness off the whole face. I hit both and the CB was the best by far. Also, they now come stock with TT DG or NS Pro Modus3 120 shafts.

Also, you can find older versions, which aren't too different from this or last year's models for much cheaper.

I may have been misinformed, but the Yamaha rep at the demo day last week said that they were made in Endo Japan. The woods and the rest of the line were made in China.

The Yamaha website says "Made in Japan"

Thank you for the input...The CBs are one of just two or three clubs I would pull the trigger on if I thought I was a better ball striker for sure..love the look....but I think they're just a touch above my confidence level right now. I'm looking at the non CB, non PB version...just the RMX Forged. Just wondering how big they are....I got to see the USDM version of the Srixon Z545. Those seem to be right in my wheel house. They seem to be limited on shaft options though (that's my next step...choosing an iron shaft) from what I can see online.

Ok, according to my Yamaha rep. and the Tourspec site, the RMX CB irons are indeed made AND forged in Japan. Here's the product description from the Tourspec shop site....

Introducing the 2015 Yamaha Tour Model RMX Limited Edition Irons! Each and every year TourSpecGolf sells out of these irons and based on the design and looks of this 2015 version things should be no different. Forged and Made in Japan of Soft S20C and finished in an NiCr Brused Satin Finish the latest RMX Tour Model Iron is designed for the professional and athlete golfer who is seeking very minimal offset, an almost blade like top line and a shape that's easy to fall heads over heels for.
It's new design cavity back aims to improve on forgiveness while maintaining a small compact appearance, Yamaha has further expanded on this by increasing the thickness behind the impact zone for a softer feel and higher center of gravity that produces mid trajectory strong ballistic shots. A new version of Yamaha's famous honey comb face laser engraving has been added for better spin characteristics and performance against a wet club face.

Shafts are as important as confidence in the head, if not more important, so for sure go for clubs that first match your swing and then give you confidence. So many good clubs out there now, including the Z545s, RMX Forged, etc., that you almost can't go wrong as long as you make sure the shaft matches your swing type. Didn't hit the regular RMX forged, so can't comment, but they should be every bit as good as the CBs. It's a shame that you can't demo them easily outside of Japan.

Best of luck!

I hit both and for me, the CB was a better feeling club, but the PB isn't bad at all. When I hit them, I liked the PB, but loved the CB. It all depends on how good of a ball striker you are in your irons. If you need a bit of forgiveness, then go with the PB. They both look similar at address, so the biggest difference is forgiveness. Also, the PB comes with different stock shafts, NS Pro Modus3 120 and NS Pro RMX 95 (probably similar to the 950 GH).

You can't go wrong with either one of these, so go with the one that matches your game and swing!

According to a friend of a friend who is the cubmaker/fitter for tour pros at Fourteen Golf, there is no difference where it is forged endo is endo. Honestly, this is splitting hairs. If i supply poland spring water and the bottle for the water amnd have it sent to mexico where they put the water in the bottle..it's still poland spring. Epon has stuff made in Thailand Endo. Even the non fourteen endo's are super awesome feeling and soft.

Totally agree, I've got Thai forged Endo irons (Callaway Legacy Black) and they are sweet! My clubmaker is an Epon dealer and he says that most Epon clubs are made in Thailand.

Rather than your water analogy, I think car making is a better example. Whether your BMW is made in Germany, or another country, the tolerances are the same.

I'm not trying to split hairs, however the fact is that, for whatever reason, Yamaha went back to Endo Japan for this year's RMX Tour CB and PB irons.

what's your thought/take on the RMX vs Mizuno H5/15? I am having trouble decide. thx

Can only guess on this one, since the MP5 isn't being marketed in Japan, so I couldn't hit it at the recent demo day. Would have to think the Pb is a similar club, but since the MP5 is hollow/semi hollow, it may feel different. Ultimately, asses your game and think about what what will work best for you. If you can game them, the RMX CB is awesome, but it you are struggling to hit the sweet spot consistantly, you might get more enjoyment out of a more forgiving club.

Think of it like cars, do you need the performance of a Ferrari, or of a Lexus. Both great and get you from point A to point B, but are made for different needs. Choose the one that will match your game, not what will look good in your bag.

Good luck!

You're right, they are on the Mizuno Japan website, but for whatever reason weren't at the demo day. I guess they are trying to sell a lot of the JPX 850 line. Actually, I don't see a lot of Mizuno MP series irons in bags in Japan. There is a bigger market for game improvement clubs.

I don't know where you live, but if you can demo the MP-H5, give it a shot. Mizuno always makes great feeling irons, and I don't expect these to be any different. Also check the equipment forum for a MP-H4 vs MP-H5 thread.

yeah, I am going to local Mizuno Demo day this month to get "DNA" fitted by Mizuno. My very first set of GI irons were Mizunos. "Players irons" market in ASIA is relatively small compare to the USA. The H5 and MP 15 are still YORO forged in JAPAN. I saw this thread and started looking at the RMX PB as well. thx again

Enjoy the fitting. I've always loved Mizuno clubs, especially my old mp 29 set, which for the life of me, I can't throw away.

However, Mizuno clubs are finished in Yoro and forged in Hiroshima at seperate site and with a different company.

Check out this video for the exact process.

I've been using 710 AP1s for a long time. Got my 2015 RMX CBs about a month ago and no regret at all. Ball flies longer, feels great, and somehow, its really forgiving for me. With AP1s, when I feel I didn't hit it right, I know where my ball is going to be. But with RMX CBs, ball still flies far enough to recover.

RMX CBs made my vokey wedges look really big and it feels really weird and I dont like it lol

So you're saying in your experience the RMX CB is just as user friendly in terms of forgiveness and distance as the AP1?

Yeah, for me it is more forgiving and longer. I'm not gonna lie. I was really scared and afraid to hit RMX CBs at first because of its small head size. It didn't take that long. Only 2 range practice, I started loving it.

I'm thinking the Yamaha RMX Forged would fit the type of iron I want to try. Can anyone compare the size of these irons to a USDM club? Have only seen pictures but not next to another iron for comparison. I've seen pictures of the RMX CB next to some Mizunos...so I have a good idea about the size of them.

Thanks

I've played the 2014 Yamaha RMX tour CB and am currently gaming the 2015 Yamaha CB. The 2014 was great to me it looked like an ap2 at address though a little bit longer toe to heel. I really hoped they would come out with a slightly smaller, less offset, thinner topline version of the same club and it feels like that's what they did on the 2015 CB. It will not be leaving my bag any time soon.
