He handled it well in the press room, I thought. He said he even put his name down because he didn't want to call anyone else out.
Yea as a non Bubba fan I do respect the way he handled it and said it just means he has to try to be a better person

Never been a Bubba fan do to some of his on/off course antics but it sounds as if he owns this and wants to improve. Good job Bubba, not that it matters, I think it's great and fully support you.

Bubba is an adult. As you become an adult, you're expected to act like one. If you don't act like a reasonable adult and you're in the media spotlight making millions of dollars, you're judged for your personality and kindness. Bubba is uneducated, unreasonably miserable, and lacks general adult senses for how to conduct himself in a professional, respectable manner. He is, at best, a d00sh.

He was the same way he is now as a junior, annoying as hell.

Look at Sergio, he has always been annoying, failing to accept responsibility, etc. until the last couple of years. I'll admit, he is actually somewhat enjoyable now due to the changes he has made to himself over the years. I respect that. I don't respect Bubba Watson, at all.

I don't care how well he hits a golf ball, he is nothing more than a mental midget who acts like a spoiled five year old.
People around here don't act like adults either. And I doubt any of us, including you would say all this to his face. So in light of that, all of this just reeks of a back talking schoolgirl, and I don't respect that at all.

Even if I could swallow the mix of a redneck car, $500K watch, crappy attitude with fans and demeaning action towards his caddie... I can never take the TOP BUTTON. Dude, it's just there to be there, YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE IT! :angry22:

The other thing to remember, and I don't have personal feelings about the Man one way or the other, cuz I don't know him, have never played with him, etc., however my Bud, who does know him a little from doin what Bubba does for a living, says he's a good Dude who really is tentative with people that he does not know, including his Peers and even industry people-

A little story from my Bud(he said that I could use it a while ago but as I don't do many "Bubba" threads, it was from 2012)-

So my Bud had a big year on Tour, gaining his card back for '13 and though he was a TMaG Staffer, Ping had invited him out to their corporate for a "chat," and as he had never been there, and even went so far as to say that the G series irons were the ugliest irons that he'd ever seen(LMAO, Bro, if ya see this, c'mon, granted the G's ain't eye candy material, however TMaG's put some ugly-a** irons out there too, lol).

So, he's getting a "walkabout" and they enter a room and the Bubster is in there with a few Ping guys. Well, they know each other, have played together and are fine with each other and Bubba congrats my Friend on his year and he does likewise, typical small talk.

Then, whichever Solheim son that runs the company comes into the room. Apologies, though I'm not a Ping guy and don't remember his name. So he shakes hands with both Bubba, who he obviously knew well and then my Bud, who had met him on a Tour Tourney Practice tee many years before, though it was a quick shake of the hands and he was off.

So, they're having some kind of company/corporate barbecue/steak fry that evening and this Solheim says he looks forward to seeing them there, and Bubba asked about a certain type of steak, I forget the cut/meat, and says simply, "Bubba doesn't do _ _ _ _ _ _(I forget the cut, I just put 6 slashes)" in front of these guys and this Solheim Son.

My Bud was a little taken aback though Bubba gave a little laugh and they said their good byes and went on with their own ways.

Now I've made it very plain regarding my thoughts on Guys talkin in the third, and I don't care who they friggin are-

That's tacky, tasteless and low brow-

Big time!

HOWEVER-

Bubba obviously was uneasy either in front of the group or with this Solheim son, who, as I said, he obviously knew or at least had been around for years, to the point that he subconsciously/involuntarily spoke in the third person-

I have spoken to a shrink about it's use(no, not regarding me or the Bubster, Putzes ;) ), and aside from the morons like TO or Chad Johnson who did it to be cute, some do it to disassociate from themselves when they are in an uncomfortable situation, whatever it may be.

So while I am neither a Bubba boi or a hater(c'mon, seriously, we don't even know these guys and you're gonna start condemnin em ;) ), I believe that he is just comfortable with a small circle of people.

I mean, who in their right mind would intentionally flip into the third with an individual who is their senior(age-wise), responsible for a very nice chunk of their income and one of the most respected Individuals in the golf industry?

FWIW, if I were exiting the parking lot and came upon Bubba in a scrap, I'd take his back, and if he was losin, yep, I'm in :)

And for those of you that would just stand there or keep walkin, that's a good thing-

You'd be of little or no assistance anyway ;)

Have a nice day Gals & Gents!

Richard

Ping is lucky to have Bubba. He's a giant of a name to have on the roster,
and they've done a fine job of making sure he has been comfortable in their
stable since a very early age.

Not sure how some CEO is his "senior." Bubba would get a contract with another
manuf withing 24 hrs if they were to part ways. Ping wouldn't get another Bubba
that fast, if ever.

Oh, he's a sniveling crybaby too. Bubba, not John (Solheim).

In a street fight there would be J.B Holmes and Cabrerra and nobody else would be close. From older generations Seve was a boxer and in Australia Norman was a noted scrapper in his young days. There are also a few stories about Norman in the locker room. Apparently has never taken a backward step. Never heard any stories but Woosie and Darren Clarke are likely looking types.

Not sure how some CEO is his "senior."
I meant "Senior" as in age, not social or professional status-

Regardless of my age, those that are 15+ years older than myself, I put in another category, as their life experiences far exceed mine, and even if they don't, the fact that they've survived 15+ years longer on this earth than I, well, I respect that and will show it, at least until we become closer, at which time my true moronic self will appear ;) That respect thing was something that my Grandmother taught me, and along with serving me well, it is a way for me to hold onto her and her values :)

I'm just this side of Bubba regarding expressing myself :)

Sorry that I didn't make myself understood!

Have a great season 3Jack!!

Bestest question...."which pga tour player would be most likely to win the fight"?......marinade on that a while.

This subject came up before, I think when DJ was quoted as saying there was someone out there he would like to beat up. There were some funny comments in that thread.

I remember one guy saying "If you got into a fight with Tommy Gainey i am pretty sure you would have to kill him. "
I'm not gonna disagree with Ya on critiquing another that one does not know first hand and I believe that I might have even touched on that in this thread, however, with the bar for entertainment and justice being relative and an individual thing, this board would be a waste land if those two factors were critical in judging the material allowed, lol.

While I may not agree with one's posted material, I do agree with one's right to post it, as long as it falls within the rules of the board.

Hell, only speaking for myself here, though if only that material was allowed that I agreed with or thought appropriate, especially in the Tour Section, this board would be like those itty bitty sites in it's rear view mirror, lmao, with 20 posts/responses being "Hot" and 100 views being a Banner Thread, lol(3-4 days later, lmao)-

Stay well my Friend & I wish you the very best this season :)

Golfingly Yours,
Richard

Don't forget him and his wife driving around frantically, they switched seats at one point, over people's front lawns and through their back yard because the felt "we were being followed." They got issues.

I'm guessing his menu choice for the champions dinner isn't helping his cause
I might kick the crap out of him just for that menu. And for repeating the exact same menu. Really? The exact same thing? I know he said it's for his mom, but it's not even some special recipe or something.

Grilled chicken, green beans, corn. Not sure how that is mom's special dish. Just seems like a plain southern meal.

And confetti cake? Really? Sounds like something a 5 year-old would request.

I know it doesn't compute --- if it did, your response would have been different and this tread wouldn't exist. Yet, its here and all the superficial assumptions. I have watched Bubba since he hit the tour, and have NOT seen enough of the behavior that you suggest, to assume he's a bad person. And NO, I didn't say you're suppose to think he's a great guy.... that's extreme. But if that's your style, go for it.

At the press conference today when asked what he thought about the poll I have to say Bubba did a great job of answering the question. He said it didn't make him mad.It just made him aware of the fact that he needed to try harder at being a man.
Bubba is one of my favorite players on tour right now because he is probably the most real player on tour if that makes sense. I guess that is why some people don't like him because he can be nice, a dick, a baby, a great player, a bad player, etc... just like the rest of us in real life. Glad he is around.
It doesn't make sense because he is fake. Someone mentioned it earlier, but it is like he wants to be David Simms from Tin Cup. Bubba is the guy at church who gets up there acting all holier than thou when you know he is having an affair with a wife in the audience, embezzling money from the local gov't, and snortin' lines before taking the podium.
This is a ridiculous statement.
