His ego is so gigantic. Augusta Nationsl is wide open and he was hitting it all over the lot. You think for one minute that Jordan, Phil or Justin were thinking about "release points"?

Must have been humiliating to have Sergio tie him and Sergio couldn't putt if the hole was a foot wide:

Tiger screamed obsenities after every bad shot and once again proved to the world what a complete a-hole he was and is.
"Kinder gentler as the press kept saying...no same day, same total schmuck.
I think someone here is obsessed. What do you call Zach Johnson when he is cursing on the course?
I don't blame Zach one bit for swearing on the course - he must have learned those bad words when Tiger put on that Porno when they were rooming together at that Ryder or Presidents Cup

Turns out he said it was a ligament that popped out and he had to put it back into place. What made me groan was he said he wouldn't be lifting weights anytime soon.. Sad that he is still doing that. If he popped the right ligament he might develop a ganglion cyst, which can be painful and sometimes needs surgery to relieve the pain..

The man should retire before he breaks a hip tripping over a curb in the course parking lot.

If Tiger brings his range driver swing to the course, he is cured. Doesn't matter who his teacher is. One odd thing. I watched Tiger in the range Sat and Sunday and Como didn't "correct" him on anything at all. I wondered why he was even there or if they just don't make any mid tournament corrections.

Hank Haney said on his XM radio show not too long ago, when he was at tournaments coaching Woods, he wouldn't do much correction if any at all. He was mainly taking mental notes of what he saw, things he liked, things he didn't like. These would be discussed in between tournaments in a more appropriate setting for coaching.

Maybe the relationship with Como works in a similar way? Lets him think about playing golf during the tournament, and work on the golf swing later.

It sounds like he spent the majority of the last 9 weeks on his short game. He's got 4 weeks Til the players, 8 Til memorial, and 10 Til the U.S.

It sounds like he needs to spend the majority of that time with the 2 longest clubs, his driver and 3 wood.

He just needs to show the same improvement with those that he has on his short game.

Of course he can't full out ignore his short game either the next 10 weeks.

He just needs to practice. No more "time off".

Wow lot of people were predicting doom and gloom for Tiger this week, missed cuts, wd's or shooting in the 80's duffing chips. He surpassed their expectations by miles, so now it's the cussing after bad shots. Have you ever been to a golf tournament, not an uncommon place now nor when Jack and Arnie played. I find it pretty funny that they had to move the bar all the way to cussing to find something to complain about, that tells me he played way above their expectations. I watched yesterday's round with a PGA player that played for many years yesterday and when he say that chunk of root coming flying out after Tiger's strike he said point blank, that could finish his career. Fortunately Tiger didn't destroy his wrist and fought through it, of course his accuracy suffered the rest of the day. It's rather apparent after a long long layoff that he came out rusty and yet still proved he's going to be a tough out in the rest of the year with steady improvement. I know it pains some of you that it's not over, for me I want to see the final push to the majors record finishing off one of, if not the best, golfer in the history of the game's career.

Getting the thread back on topic, I only see 3 potential plays for Tiger the next 10 weeks. Players in 4, Memorial in 8, and US in 10.

I don't see him missing any of those, although he could skip the Players. I highly doubt he would as he loves that tournament despite a not so great track history there.

I think he wants probably wants to do exactly what he did over the past 9 weeks. Disappear for awhile and work work work. It proved very successful for his short game, which is what lead to this better than expected score this week.

Take X weeks, and focus a ton on the Drive/3W/5W. Pepper in enough short game to keep it up to snuff, and really just go all out with his long clubs. He seemed to really want to answer the criticism of his short game, and did. The new criticism, or the only one left, is his tee game.

Tiger set himself up with the comment that if he feels he can't win anymore, that's when he will retire. His last win was over a year and a half ago. How much longer does Tiger have to go without a win to make that decision? The rest of this year? Two years? Ten years?

The media brings up the major drought all the time. If Tiger doesn't win a tournament soon, any tournament, the media will begin to bring that up also, and the evidence will start to become overwhelming. For the impossible expectations many of us have of Tiger, Tiger's expectations of himself may turn out to be just as impossible.

Judgement has to be reserved IMO until 12-18 months of healthy play.

He hasn't been injury free since he first tweaked his back at the Memorial in 2013. I'm not judging the state of Tiger's game since he has 12-18 months injury free. Look at this result in stroke play events pre-injury at Memorial...

2013 Farmers Insurance: 1st
2013 Honda Classic: 37th
2013 WGC-CA: 1st
2013 API: 1st
2013 Masters: 4th
2013 Players: 1st

He won 66% of his first 6 stroke play events while last healthy, under the 'horrible Foley method'. If not for an incredibly accurate shot, would he have won 5/6? We'll never know.

Then look at this results post-injury, plus various other injuries during that time period.

65/32/6/1/40/265/11/22
2014: 80/143/25/103/69/73/116

The latter half of 2013 and all of 2014 was marred by injury. Nothing else can be expected.

Hopefully 2015 is an injury free season for Tiger, and we'll know exactly where the state of his game is at the end of it.

you could also add in the '13 Bridgestone, his last win.

i guess you have to define 'injury free'. all pros have various injuries they play with. would it have to be an injury that causes tiger to withdraw? i don't think tiger will ever be truly 'injury free', so by your definition, we may never see that 12-18 month timeframe.

Will have to have his hand checked out after he put it back into joint after hitting the root..

LOL his accuracy suffered the rest of the day? His accuracy was suffering during the first shot of the round when he ripped his 3 wood onto the adjacent fairway.

He didn't hit any fairways through the first what? 12 holes? But if it wasn't for that darn root Tiger would be in the green jacket.

I think the stat that he was second to last in fairways hit and still shot -5 is impressive. I know there isn't any rough at Augusta and not much penalty for being out of the fairway, but he hit it all over the place off the tee for most of the four days and still played decently well. If he can figure out his tee problems ( a big IF considering it's been an issue for quite a while), then I think he will have a chance to compete in the final three majors.

That sounds like you are downplaying Jordan's incredible start. Everyone in the field was getting their butt kicked after two days, not just Tiger. The kid had a 5 shot lead after two rounds.
