Am I too much arms, not enough body?

Google "S posture golf"...you appear to have it...that is making it harder for your hips to rotate correctly. It is a setup concept that I think applies to you.

Wow, never heard of it but sounds like something I do. Had an instructor tell me "stick your butt as high as you can" and I've just always done it. Fixing it would be to just relax the lower spine/hips instead of arching them upwards?

Hit a bucket and got 18 in today, I feel so close to a breakthrough but still some work to be done. What do you guys think?

IMO, you're lifting the hands and club head way too much and way too early - and out of the ideal swing path in the takeaway. You're getting your arms out of sync with your shoulders before the club is parallel to the ground. That's a good receipt for steepness and power leak. All of this relates to the lack of hip turn that Monte has stressed several times already.

So the idea would be to have the take away lower and more on plane (which would feel inside)? An outside takeaway is something I always fight, since it offsets me coming from the inside. No doubt proper hip turn would fix a lot of my problems though.

as others have said you need to sort your posture out, then your hands and arms move away from your body and disconnect on the backswing, get them working inside and across your chest sooner, on the downswing your lower body WAY outraces your arms and leaves them way behind and thus you stand up through the shot. get the arms working down faster sooner.

Yes, something like that. For several years I had the idea of "moving the body to the inside and keeping the hands to the outside" - quite the opposite of what you're doing here. More hip turn helps keep the hands low and in sync with shoulders. And it tends to free up the turn as well. If you resist the hips and only move the upper body, the lifting will start sooner and there's a risk that you will disconnect the arms from the shoulders.

It is possible to overdo what I say here, so you need to keep an eye on the club head path too. if arms gets sucked too much to the inside, it may help to stand closer to the ball, for instance.

So pretty much the entire golfwrx community is screaming "rotate your hips" at me? Maybe I should listen! Thanks for the help so far guys. The journey to single digits continues.

Like has been said, when you don't rotate your hips, your arms have to work away from you or behind you. You chose away.

You don't want them working down. You want them up and in (back), but you can't do that until the hips rotate. Softening up the S curve will help, but learning to rotate your hips is foreign, so there need to be effort.

Progress! Hit the ball a little shaky today but starting to get away from that heel. Developed a bit of a pull the last few days but hopefully that's just a growing pain! Swing feels good, gents.

I fight a similar problem....arms stuck behind a quick lower body, resulting in early extension, shanks, and generally poor ball striking at times. One idea I have for you to visualize your hip turn is to put an alignment stick in your belt loops. At the top, the left side of the stick should be pointed to first base and down. Then, try to get your arms in front of the stick on the way down. David Toms does this drill:

You can pick them up for $2 at home depot or any hardware store

Wow. Seems like a great drill! I'll have to give it a try on the range tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!

Hip turn a little too level and shaft a little steep.

Not bad.

Level = flat and steep shaft in the downswing, correct?

Your shoulders are a bit out of sync in the start of the down swing. Right shoulder should drop (down and away from target) and not turn out immediately. You will get the most out of your shoulder turn if you save most of it until the hands are down by the belt line. The way to do that is to lead the transition with the lower body.

Bump (the hips towards the target), dump (the hands down to hip height) and turn (through the ball with everything).
